1. How did you spend your holy week?
2. Where did you spend the long weekend and who did you spend it with?

-Motivation:

AN INVITATION!
Students will be grouped into three. Within there groups they will have to
analyze the given invitation letter in under a minute. After one minute each
group must then try to recall the contents of the letter by filling out or answering
the following details in a sheet of paper:

THE QUESTION CIRCLE
The class will remain in their groups of three (3). For the activity each group
must form 5 W’s and 1 H questions that are related to details about the historic
resort city, Lapu-Lapu City in under five (5) minutes. After five minutes, each
group must then take turns in asking the other groups their formulated
question. If the other group fails to answer their question, they will receive 5
points. However, if the other group answers correctly, they will have 5 points
instead.

2. What have you observed with the questions you formulated?
3. Why are they important?

.D. Abstraction (13 WHAT ARE WH QUESTIONS?


minutes) -They are interrogative sentences or sentences that ask a question which is then
used to ask about specific qualities, times, places, people and so on.
-A question that asks for a specific answer, and we do not expect a yes or no
answer
-Incudes: what, when, where, who, whom, which, whose, why and how.

SIMPLE VS THOUGHT-PROVOKING QUESTIONS


Simple Questions
-Questions that are easily understood and are not complex or complicated.
ex.: What are the names of the students in the class?
Thought-provoking Questions
-Questions that are asked when you want to spark a fascinating discussion
about a topic.
-Allows a person to think critically.
ex.: How does one’s name affect the confidence of a child while growing up?

WHY SHOULD WE LEARN ABOUT THEM?


-All learning begins with questions, and how we both question and model
questioning for our learners defines their quality of learning. Without providing
meaningful questions, learning is lost.

-Leads to deeper thinking, and answers lead to more questions and more in-
depth inquiry
