GOVERNMENT TO PROMOTE DRONE USE IN AGRICULTURE – FINANCIAL SUPPORT
BEING EXTENDED UNDER ‘SUB-MISSION ON AGRICULTURE MECHANIZATION
Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoA&FW) has
amended the guidelines of Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanisation
(SMAM) to provide a 100 percent grant (up to Rs 10 lakh) to Agricultural
Institutes for the purchase of drones for Farming and its allied activities.

The financial assistance and grants would be available until March 31,2023.

Aim – To promote precision farming in India and to make drone


technology affordable to the stakeholders of this sector.
About Subsidy and Eligibility:

1. 100 percent subsidy (maximum Rs 10 lakh) – Farm Machinery Training


and Testing Institutes, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)
institutes, Krishi Vigyan Kendras and State Agriculture Universities are
eligible to avail of the 100 percent subsidy.

2. 75 percent subsidy – It is applicable to the Farmers


Producers Organisations (FPOs)

3. 40 percent subsidy (maximum Rs 4 lakh) – The new Custom


Hiring Centres (CHCs) or the Hi-tech Hubs that will be established by the
Cooperative Societies of Farmers, FPOs and Rural entrepreneurs with
financial assistance from SMAM, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY)
or any other Schemes can also include Drone as one of the machines.
A contingency expenditure of Rs.6000 per hectare would be
provided to implementing agencies that just hire drones instead of
purchasing for demonstrations.

The contingent expenditure would be limited to Rs.3000 per


hectare to implementing agencies that purchase drones for drone
demonstrations.

4. 50 percent (Upto 5 lakh) – It is limited to CHC which has been


set up by Agriculture graduates.

EXPORTS OF MARINE PRODUCTS
Exports of Marine Products registered a growth of 35% to USD 6.1 Billion
during April-December 2021 (Provisional) as compared to USD 4.5
Billion during same period in the year 2020. As compared to April-
December 2019 (USD 5.5 Billion) and April-December 2014 (USD 4.4
Billion), exports of Marine Products registered a growth of 12% and 38%
respectively.

In the month of December 2021, exports of Marine Products touched


USD 720.51 Million, registering a growth of 28.01% over $562.85 Mn
logged in December 2020
The overall exports of Marine Products in the last Financial Year (March,
2020- April, 2021) was USD 5.96 Billion, and with USD 6.11 Billion
scaled during the first three Quarters of FY2021-22, the sector is very
likely to exceed the all-time

high of USD 7.02 Billion exports achieved in the FY2017-18, despite the
impact of the Covid19 pandemic since January, 2020.

Top 5 export destinations in April-November 2021 (latest available,


share% in bracket) are: USA (44.5%), China (15.3%), Japan (6.2%),
Vietnam (4%) & Thailand (3%). Frozen shrimps constitute the major
share in India’s Marine Products exports items with 74% share in value
terms (USD); Frozen Fish (7%), Others (6%) and Frozen Squid (5%)
constitute the other major items in the Marine Products exports basket in
FY2020-21. Others category included primarily Surimi and Surimi
analogue (imitation) products.

platform to start-ups within the country to showcase their innovative

Cori Gold brand has been developed for coriander powder which is the

Brand Kashmiri Mantra brings out the essence of spices from Kulgam,
Jammu and Kashmir. The Kashmiri Lal Mirch product has been developed
under the ODOP component for spices for Jammu and Kashmir.

Brand Madhu Mantra has been developed under the ODOP concept for
honey from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Whole wheat cookies, is the second product developed under the brand
Dilli Bakes. The brand and the product have been developed under the bakery
ODOP concept for Delhi.

Brand Somdana has been developed under the ODOP concept of millets from
Thane, Maharashtra. The ragi flour is a unique product as it is gluten-free, rich
in iron, fibre, and calcium.

KVIC LAUNCHES INDIA’S 1ST MOBILE HONEY PROCESSING
VAN IN GHAZIABAD
Vinai Kumar Saxena, Chairman of Khadi and Village Industries
Commission (KVIC), has launched India’s first Mobile Honey
Processing Van at Sirora village in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. This
mobile honey processing unit can process up to 300 KG of honey in 8
hours.

The mobile van is designed by KVIC at its Multi-disciplinary Training


Centre, Panjokehra, at a cost of Rs 15 lakh.
• The van is equipped with a testing laboratory, which would
instantly examine the honey’s quality.

The van will benefit the beekeepers in rural areas of Uttar


Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan.

The Jharkhand Government partners with premier city-based B-
school, Indian School of Business (ISB) to empower Jharkhand’s
forest economy.

Under the partnership, a MoU (memorandum of understanding) has


been signed by the Department of Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste,
Minority and Backward Class Welfare, the Department of Forests,
Jharkhand, along with Bharti Institute of Public Policy (BIPP) at
Indian School of Business (ISB).

JERRI SETTLEMENT IN REASI DISTRICT DECLARED
AS 1ST MILK VILLAGE OF J&K
The administration of Jammu & Kashmir(J&K) has declared the
Jerri settlement (Jerri hamlet) in Reasi district as the first ‘Milk
Village’ of the Union Territory(UT).

The administration has also sanctioned 57 additional dairy


farms under the Integrated Dairy Development Scheme (IDDS)
for the hamlet. At present the Jerri, the Milk Village, which
houses 73 individual dairy units with 370 cows, which provides
financial security to the local farmers.

signed a partnership agreement with Arthimpact Digital Loans (ARTH)
to provide end to-end fintech (financial technology) solutions to support
self help groups (SHGs).

micro-MSME enterprises.
2. Both organisations will work to provide micro financial services and

AGNEXT PARTNERS WITH NAFED TO TRAIN FPOS OF
MAHARASHTRA IN QUALITY ASSESSMENT OF PULSES
AgNext Technologies signed a partnership agreement with
National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd.
(NAFED) to organize a virtual training and awareness programme for the
FPOs (Farmer Producer Organizations) of Maharashtra on pulse quality
assessment.

Objective: To train the FPOs about the different market quality standards
for toor dal (pigeon pea).
Key points:
1. AgNext partnered with five FPOs including the Vidarbha Cooperative
Marketing Federation (VCMF), Markfed, MahaFPC, Pruthashakti and
Vidarbha Agricultural & Allied Producer Company Limited (VAAPCO)
to train and create awareness about the quality standards of pulses,
particularly toor dal.

2. The session was attended by FPO leaders, who will in turn


train 40,000-50,000 farmers across Maharashtra.

3. AgNext used its ‘SpecX Visio’ device for physical quality assessment of
the pulses.

KVG BANK JOINS HANDS WITH MECWIN TECH TO FINANCE
SOLAR PUMP-SETS FOR FARMERS
A Regional Rural Bank (RRB), Karnataka Vikas Grameena(KVG) Bank
(KVGB), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with
Bengaluru (Karnataka)-based Mecwin Technologies(Tech) Ltd to introduce
farmer-friendly solar-powered pump-sets using bank finance.

Solar-powered pump-sets will replace diesel pump-sets resulting in


reduced carbon emissions.

KVASU BAGS NATIONAL AWARD FOR BREED CONSERVATION
The All India Co-ordinated Research Project (AICRP) on poultry
breeding, Mannuthy, under the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Science
University (KVASU), bagged the national breed conservation award for
2021.
The centre received the prestigious award from ICAR – The National Bureau
of Animal Genetic Resources (NBAGR) for the conservation and research
activities on the Tellicherry breed, the only registered native chicken breed
from the State.

The centre started conservation of the Tellicherry breed in 2014.

Through scientific selection and management, the breed began laying eggs as
early as in five months and the annual egg production increased to 160-170
eggs.

CHINA STEPS UP CHECKS AFTER CORONAVIRUS FRUIT FINDINGS
China has tightened import rules after finding the virus that causes COVID-
19 on packaging of fruit from Vietnam and Thailand.
At least nine Chinese cities have recorded positive coronavirus tests in
relation to dragon fruit from Vietnam and longan fruit from Thailand,
according to media reports.
China had already stopped at least some dragon fruit imports from Vietnam
until the end of January because of coronavirus findings in late December.
Authorities have now started screening of imported food products,
temporarily shut food stores and ordered people who bought the implicated
fruit to quarantine.
In September this past year, China detected the SARS-CoV-2 virus on the
packaging and boxes containing dragon fruits imported from Vietnam and
suspended imports for a week.

18TH KACHAI LEMON FESTIVAL BEGINS IN MANIPUR 2022
The 18th edition of the two days long Kachai Lemon Festival began
in Manipur at the Local Ground of Kachai Village in Ukhrul district.
The Kachai Lemon Festival is organised annually to promote this unique
kind of lemon fruit and to encourage lemon farmers.

This year, altogether 260 stalls are put up at the festival showcasing the
rich reap of lemon this year.

This year the festival is being organised under the theme ‘Organic
Kachai Lemon for Safe Environment and Rural Transformation’.

AP YSR RYTHU BHAROSA PAYMENT STATUS 2022-23
According to the scheme, the AP State government offers qualified farmers
Rs. 13,500 per year in three installments under the YSR RYTHU BHAROSA
-PM Kisan plan.

The entire Rs 13,500 does not come from the YSR Rythu Bharosa program
alone, and as the name implies, the direct cash transfer includes Rs 6000
annually guaranteed to qualified farmers under the PM KISAN Samman
Nidhi Scheme. In other words, while the state government is providing Rs
7,500, the PM Kisan plan provides an additional Rs 6000.

While AP Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy announced that the first
payment of Rs 5,500 on Rs 2000 would be credited under the PM Kisan
Scheme, which is set to be distributed by the end of this month. YS Jagan
Mohan Reddy has credited Rs 3,758 crore as the first payment of YSR Rythu
Bharosa for the fourth year in succession, benefiting 50.10 lakh farmers.
