ANDUR LAKE HOUSE
Shirish Beri is the living embodiment of the phrase
“ being one with nature”.
The architect’s holiday retreat mirrors Nariman
Gandhi’s principles of organic architecture and
Frank Lloyd Wright’s romanticized idea of nature.
Beri’s design is consistent with his multifaceted range
of interests which are reflected in the architectural
features of his house.

Shirish Beri designed a home for

his family, an oasis of calm for a
much-needed pause from today’s
hectic fast-paced professional life
in the city.
The building’s forms appear to
be natural extensions of the
landscape.

The structural material, laterite,

helps establish this bond with the
earth. The home among the hills
overlooking Andur Lake in India is
a dialogue between architecture
and location, in the language of
perspective. ARCHITECTURE APPRAISAL

HOUSE AT ANDUR , MAHARASHTRA

While fitting snugly in the

hill slope, and integrating
effortlessly with the
landscape, it makes the
lake itself an integral part
of its design vocabulary.
The plan is so organized
that one connects with
the lake and the hills
from almost any part of
the house.
