Post Lesson Reflection

1. To what extent were lesson objectives achieved? (Utilize assessment data to justify
your level of achievement)

Students were able to walk away knowing how to assess if given triangles are known as “special
right triangles” and how to rationalize a fraction. Most students felt moderately comfortable
based off my assessment at the end, with the majority of results being between a 3 and a 5.

2. What changes, omissions, or additions to the lesson would you make if you were to
teach again?

If I were to teach this lesson again I would make it more clear at the start what I am wanting
students to focus on for notes. I would want to build in more wait-time to allow for copying of
shapes as well as the creation of questions. I would like to add more engagement in the lesson,
especially within the proof portion (having students help when showing how the triangles are
derived) as well as the solving (bringing some students up for examples during the group-work
time).

3. What do you envision for the next lesson? (Continued practice, reteach content, etc.)

The next lesson would be continued practice as well as checks for understanding and accuracy.
It is also good to see where else these triangles and rationalization are useful. Connecting it to
knowledge of other triangles and circles would.
