2023 MUNICIPAL SECONDARY SCHOOLS PRESS CONFERENCE
To: All Secondary School Heads

English and Filipino School Paper Advisers and Coordinators
1. This is to announce the conduct of the 2023 Municipal Schools Press Conference
on April 25, 2023 to be held at Santa Cruz Academy.
2. The conference with the theme, “Pahayagang Pangkampus, Kaagapay sa

Paghilom at Pagbangon ng Sambayana” aims to:
2.1 demonstrate understanding of the importance of Journalism by
expressing it through different journalistic endeavors and approaches;
2.2 sustain advocacy on social consciousness and environmental awareness;
2.3 provide a venue for an enriching learning experience for students
interested in Journalism as a career or those who intend to use the skill
sets learned through campus journalism to give them a better edge in
their chosen careers;
2.4 promote responsible journalism and fair and ethical use of social media;
and
2.5 enhance journalistic competence through healthy and friendly
competitions.
3. Participants to this conference are the following:

3.1 Campus Journalists in the Secondary Level who will compete in the
following group contests in English and Filipino media:
3.1.1 Radio Script Writing and Broadcasting (RSWB);

3.1.2 Collaborative Publishing Contest (CPC);
3.1.3 TV Script Writing and Broadcasting (TVSWB); and
3.1.4 Online Publishing Contest (OPC).
3.2 School Paper Advisers of the abovementioned participants.

4. Participants are required to wear white t-shirt and pants except those to compete
in TVSWB.
5. Each school shall give 500.00 contribution for the expenses of the said
conference.
6. To ensure the effective and efficient conduct of the activity, refer to the
enclosures for the general guidelines.
7. Immediate dissemination of this memorandum is desired.

GENERAL GUIDELINES
1. Schools are to have two (2) groups to participate in the following group
competitions (1) for English and another one (1) for Filipino.
Radio Script Writing and Broadcasting (RSWB);

Collaborative Publishing Contest (CPC);
TV Script Writing and Broadcasting (TVSWB); and
Online Publishing Contest (OPC)
2. Contestants of Radio Script Writing and Broadcasting (English and Filipino)

should consider the following:
1. Each school
2. Participants should wear white T-shirt and pants.

3. Each team is required to bring their own extension wires and other
equipment for rehearsal.
4. Laptops with files other than music or sound effects files shall not be
allowed during the competition.
5. The students will be given 1 ½ hours to prepare a script for a 5-minute

radio broadcast, that includes an infomercial, which may depict health,
environment, politics and social issues, and four (4) news articles,
which may be based on press releases, raw data, or any other option
given by the judge. The infomercial shall have maximum length of (1)
minute and shall use the language that the group is competing in.
Another 30 minutes will be allotted for the printing of the output. After
two hours, four (4) copies
will be submitted to the judges. The team may print extra copies for

3. Contestants of Collaborative Publishing Contest (English and Filipino) should

consider the following:

4. Contestants of Online Publishing Contest (English and Filipino) should consider
