IV. Determine whether each of the following sets is finite, infinite, or null.

10.The set of the whole number between 5 and 6. Null because there are no whole number
between 5 and 6.

11.The set of points on a line segment. Infinite because their unlimited numbers in line
segment.
12.The set of all odd numbers divisible by 2. Null because odd numbers are not divisible by
2.

13. The set of even integers between 10 and 25. Finite because there are even numbers
between 10 and 25 which are 12.14,16,18,20,22,24.

VIII.State whether the following statements is true or false. Justify your answers.

24.{b} ⊆ {a, {b}, {c}}

This statement is true because the subset of singleton b which are the null element and
itself is present in the set {a, {b}, {c}}.
25.b ∈ {a,b, c}
This statement is true because b is an element of set a, b, c.

26.{b} ∈ {a, b, c}
This statement is false because singleton is not an element of the set.
27.b⊆ {a, b, c}
This statement is false because b is an element, and it can never be a subset of itself.

28.{b} ⊆ {a, b, {c}}

This statement is true because the subset of singleton b which are the null element and
itself is present in the set {a, b, {c}}.

IX. Let A = {a, b, c, d} and B = {x, y}.

29. Use the set-roster notation to write each of the following sets. Moreover, determine the
cardinality of each set.
a.) A x A)

A × A = {(a,a), (a,b), (a,c), (a,d), (b,b), (b,c), (b,d), (c,c), (c,d), (d,d)}
∣A∣=4
∣A∣=4
A x A = 10 elements
b.) A x B

A×B = {(a,x), (a,y), (b,x), (b,y), (c,x), (c,y), (d,x), (d,y)}

∣A∣=4
∣B∣=2

A x B = 8 elements

c.) B x A
B x A = {(x,a), (x,b), (x,c), (x,d), (y,a), (y,b), (y,c), (y,d)}

∣B∣=2
∣A∣=4
B x A = 8 elements

d.) B x B

B x B = {(x,y), (y,y)}
∣B∣=2
∣B∣=2
B x B = 2 elements
