CHAPTER III

This chapter contains the research design the sampling procedure and methods of the
research and its gathering method and analysis of the researchers.

Research Design
The research design that shall be used in the study by the research designed that is used in
conducting the research study of the researchers is quantitative data which the researchers
uses to seek out the why and nox the how of the topic through the analysing the
unstructured information that come from the respondents interview, transcript, email,
notes, feedback of the respondents.

The researchers employed the quantitative approach since their main objective is to
understand the impact of sleep deprivation to the cognitive psychology of the Grade 12
GAS.

Sampling Procedure and Sampling Methods

In selecting the respondents for the research study, the researchers used a method that
could be appropriate for getting the data needed for the researchers who conducted the
study

Due to unexpected circumstance where instead of using face to face survey and using
papers surveys questionnaires, the researchers chose the random sampling where the
students who has on stable internet connection can answer the prepared survey by the
researchers, the researchers had a sample size of 40 students.

The researchers used an online survey questionnaire as a data gathering tool from the
respondents from the students of Grade 12 General Academic Strand of Cauayan City
National High School. The researchers personally sent a copy of the survey to their
research adviser to examine the survey and if there are changes that they need to do.

The researchers prepared the survey questionnaire with 3 choices Always, Sometimes,
Never. For the interview the researchers used the unstructured interview where the
respondents can answer the questions genuinely.

Data Gathering Method

As the researchers start to gather data for the study the researchers prepared a survey
questionnaire that served as a tool for data gathering.

The researchers first approached their research adviser to ask for guidance in constructing
the survey for the data gathering. After examining the content of the survey questionnaire
the research adviser approved and instructed the research to start the survey.

The selected students from the Grade 12 General Academic Strand in Cauayan City
National High School of the S.Y. 2020-2021 the researchers sent the copy of the survey
to the respondents through online survey those who has an unstable connection the
researchers sent a photo of the survey through an online app messenger in order for them
to be able to participate in the study conducted by the researchers.
The data’s that were sent by the respondents were thoroughly discussed and analysed by
the researchers in order to come up with interpretation. The answers will remain
confidential in order to protect the privacy of the respondents.

Data analysis
Data analysis is defined as the process of systematically applying the statistical and
logical technique in describing illustrating and condensing the data that were gathered.

The researchers used likert scale method in analysing and interpreting the datas that were
obtained from the researchers. Likert scale is a type of gathering data where the
researchers provide a question or statement consisting of possible responses where each
item was given with numerical score in order for the data to be analysed quantitatively.

The answer of the respondents from the Grade 12 were thoroughly examined and
interpreted by the researchers using the likert scale making it easier for the researchers to
give the interpretation.

The data examined by from the respondents concerning the impact of sleep deprivation to
their cognitive psychology will remain confidential in order to protect the privacy of their
respondents.
