A study conducted by Clarence Sandoval in 2019 entitled “Cardaba Banana Peel as a

Soap”, determines the cardaba banana peel can produce a soap. The result shows that soap can be

produced from the cardaba banana peel. The different concentrations of the produced soap from

the cardaba banana peel have a significant effect in terms of its sensory properties.

Research in 2019 conducted by Badwar, Meghawati R & various other researchers

entitled “Formulation and Evaluation of Two Layered Soap containing Orange Peel Extract”.

The result of their study showed that orange peel extract can help whiten skin, has an anti-aging

content, and gives off a pleasant citrusy odor. The researchers also stated that orange peel soap

has a better effect than normal soap base in terms of whitening. “Evaluation showed that none of

the volunteers experienced skin irritation during the test period. The volunteers are satisfied at

high level with the texture and at medium level with the odor of orange peel soap,” According to

them. It simply stated that the two soaps were not prone to initiate skin irritation under ordinary

condition of use.

“The peels of the fruit show good results against the anti-bacterial activity for skin

bacteria studied. Also, the soaps are less prone to the addition of the harmful chemicals and their

derivatives. This soap also includes the addition of the natural products of the fruits and thus less

harmful to the human skin.” It is based on the study conducted by Fonseca, Maria A. A. R &

various other researchers in 2019 entitled “Fruit Peel Soap and its Antibacterial Properties in

Skin Care”. The result of the study showed that the product they had made from the fruit peel is

less harmful to human skin than commercial soap which can be found in stores.
 In a study conducted by Setiadi, Putri and Famila Anindia in 2017 entitled “Manufacture

of solid soap based on crude papain enzyme and antioxidant from papaya”. The result of the

study showed that “Formula IV is a formula soap that meets standard SNI 1996 and have highest

antioxidant activity among other formulas indicated by the value of IC50 is 13,657 ppm.

Compared soap with positive control (without enzymes) than negative control (with enzyme) has

value of percentage dirt removal higher than positive control, it is 19% with measurement

absorbance of wash water substrate and 32% measured by mass substrate after washed.”

Bananas are a delicious and healthy food that contains fiber, essential nutrients such as

potassium, and antioxidants such as vitamin C. When eating a banana, most people discard the

peel. However, you might reconsider that action based on claims that banana peels have a variety

of uses (Scott Frothingham, 2019). He also added that rubbing banana peel on your face can

brighten skin and reduce wrinkles and can help acne scars to fade. Furthermore, he also stated

that placing a banana peel on closed eyed can reduce puffiness and placing banana peel to the

area with psoriasis can moisturize and relieve itch.
