China to conduct regular military exercises around Taiwan after 4 days of

unprecedented drills

Chinese state television on Sunday, citing a commentator, reported that China is likely to
conduct regular military drills in the eastern coast of Taiwan. This announcement comes after the
end of four days of military exercises conducted by China around Taiwan in response to the visit
by US House of Representatives Speaker, Nancy Pelosi.
10 warships belonging to both China and Taiwan were involved in a chase with each country
sailing in close proximity of the Taiwan strait. It is reported that Chinese warships crossed the
median line which is considered as an unofficial buffer.
Chinese authorities announced live fire military exercises in two regions – The Yellow Sea and
The Bohai Sea, area between China and the Korean Peninsular. While military exercises are in
Yellow Sea are to be conducted till 15th of August, Bohai Sea exercises would begin from
Monday till September 8th as reported by the Maritime Safety Administration.
Military exercises around the Taiwan region commenced a day after Nancy Pelosi's visit to
Taiwan, following which China also severed dialogues with US on several issues of importance.
The visit by Nancy Pelosi is the first visit by a high ranking US official in Taiwan in 25 years.
 Ceasefire between Israel and Palestine comes into force

Israeli and Palestinian militants agreed to comply with a truce in the Gaza region on Sunday
evening according to reports. The truce, brokered by Cairo, comes after a week of attacking
Palestinian targets in the Hamas controlled Gaza and other surrounding regions by Israel using
its long range rocket attacks.
The week long attacks by the Israel have taken the lives of 31 people so far, one third of them
being civilians. The latest Israeli attack in the region had killed 17 people, nine of which where
children. The attacks by Israel have forced residents in cities of Tel Aviv and Ashkeltons to
shelter in order to protect themselves.
According to an Egyptian security source, Israel had agreed to the proposal of a truce while a
Palestinian official said that the ceasefire would come into effect on Sunday evening. Islamic
Jihad forces have reportedly aimed their attacks at Jerusalem in retaliation for the killing of the
south commander of Gaza by Israeli forces.
The recent bouts of violence between the two countries marked an extremely intense situation in
Gaza, the most in Gaza region after the 11 day war in May, 2021.
