LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE

Section and Time:

Learning Infer the conditions necessary for heat transfer to occur Level 7
Competency
Quarter 3

Learning Knowledge: Describe the necessary conditions for heat transfer to take place Week 8
Objectives No.
Skills: Trace the direction in which heat is transfer;
Day 1&2
Attitudes: Acknowledge the importance of heat transfer

Topic HEAT: Introduction Duration

Resources Needed
 2 small containers (drinking cups or glasses)
 2 big containers (enough to accommodate the small containers)
 tap water
 hot water
 food coloring
 laboratory thermometers (with reading up to 100oC)

PROCEDURE:
Element of
Suggested Activities
the Plan
Awareness  A glass of cold water and a glass of warm water will be presented to the class
 Selected students will be ask to hold each glass and describe it
 students holding each glass will be ask to pour it in one container and compare it to
the water before it was mix

Activity Step 1: Preparation:

 Distribution of the activity sheets
 Reminder on the DO’s and DON’T”s before, during, and after the activity
 Reading on the objectives and procedures of the activity
Step 2: activity proper
 With proper guidance and monitoring, students shall be given enough time to
perform “activity 1: Warm me up, Cool me down” on page 39 of the Science
Learners Material.
 Students shall be able to create a set up similar to figure 1 shown below

SET UP A
 Students observation shall be recorded on the table below

Analysis Q1. In which setup did you find changes in the temperature of water inside the containers?
In which setup did you NOT find changes in the temperature of water inside the
containers?
Q2. In which setup is heat transfer taking place between the containers?
Q3. What then is the condition necessary for heat transfer to take place between objects?
9. Refer to the changes in the temperature of water in the setup where heat transfer is
taking place.

Q4. Which container contains water with higher initial temperature? What happens to its
temperature after 2 minutes?
Q5. Which container contains water with lower initial temperature? What happens to its
temperature after 2 minutes?
Q6. If heat is related to temperature, what then is the direction of heat that transfers
between the containers?
Abstraction What is the direction of heat transfer?
 Heat transfer from an area of higher temperature to an area of lower temperature
What is (are) necessary condition(s) for heat transfer to take place?
 Difference in temperature between two objects/system is necessary for a heat transfer
to take place

Application Why do people wear thick clothes and jacket during the cold month December in our
country?
(It is to minimize the heat lost from our body as it transfer to the relatively lower temperature
of our surroundings)

Assessment INSTRUCTION: Trace the direction of heat transfer that occurs in the
picture shown below:

Assignment How are heat transferred through conduction?
