LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS

GRADE 8

March 9, 2022

I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:

a. Determine the relationship between the hypothesis and the
conclusion of an if-then statement.
b. Transforms a statement into an equivalent if-then statement.
c. Apply correct reasoning on day-to-day interaction with other people.

II. LEARNING CONTENT

TOPIC: Determining Hypothesis and Conclusion of an If-Then
Conditional Statement

III. LEARNING EXPERIENCES

A. PRELIMINARIES
1. PRAYER
2. CHECKING OF ATTENDANCE
3. CHECKING OF ASSIGNMENTS
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY
4. REVIEW
Class can you still recall what were the topics that we
discussed last meeting are?

And what is it all about?

Very Good. Thank You. (Follow up question) What is

linear functions all about?

Absolutely Correct! Around of applause please. Yes, what

else? What else we discussed last meeting?

Okay, very well, thank you for that intelligent idea!

B. MOTIVATION:
(Identify Me!)

Class let us have some brainy exercise!

I will flash some statements on the projector, what you

will have to do is to identify whether the statement is
TRUE or FALSE. If you think the statement is true, you
have to clap your hands three times. And if the statement
is false, just wave your hands on the air.

Were the instructions clear?

1. The measure of an obtuse angle is less than 90°.

2. All mammals can be found on land.
3. Every prime number is odd.
4. Plants are autotrophs.

So, how do you feel about the game?

How were you able to identify if the statement is true or

false?

In connection also to our game, in mathematics we also

have to do constructing statements and reasoning.

But, why do you think we need to construct statements in

correct manner?

Okay, very good! So, what do you think is our topic for
this morning?

Yes, this morning we will discussed on Determining

Hypothesis and Conclusion of an If-Then Conditional
Statement

a. PRESENTATION OF TOPIC
Our topic for this morning is all about determining
hypothesis and conclusion of an if-then statement, but
before that we will proceed let us know first our
objectives, because it will serve as our guide in our
discussion.

a. Determine the relationship between the

hypothesis and the conclusion of an if-then
statement.
b. Transforms a statement into an equivalent if-then
statement.
c. Apply correct reasoning on day-to-day interaction
with other people.

d. LESSON PROPER
 ACTIVITY

Class based on your own understanding, what have you

understand about hypothesis and conclusion?

Okay, very well stated!

But before proceeding to further lesson let us first know

the basic words we will used on our discussion.

(the teacher present vocabulary)

Can we now identify the hypothesis and conclusion of a

statement?

Okey, now let us try identifying hypothesis and conclusion

on some examples.

Okay, very good!

 ANALYSIS
(The teacher will ask the students with the following
questions)

How were you able to identify the hypothesis and

conclusion in the statement?

What is the difference between hypothesis and

conclusion?
Okay, very Good!

 ABSTRACTION
Based on your answers why do we have to identify
hypothesis and conclusion of the statement?

Can we communicate to other people using only

hypothesis statement or vice versa?

If we will be accused to things we did not committed, is

reasoning helpful to the situation? Why do you think so?

Okey , thank you for that opinion.

Any questions or clarifications?

 APPLICATION (Group Activity)

Class before we will proceed on answering assessment,

let us have group activity on the topic we had discussed
this morning.

The teacher will divide the class into five groups using
random numbering.

1st Task: Create a slogan using If-then statement on

covid vaccination.

2nd Task: Make a debate utilizing if-then statement

reasoning on face-to-face class.

3rd Task: Create an editorial piece using if-then statement

on the issue of government procurement of covid
vaccines.

e. EVALUATION
Instruction: In a ½ crosswise, transform the following
into an if-then statement and identify the hypothesis
and conclusion from the given statement.

Ex.

Intersecting lines are coplanar.

If-then statement: If lines intersect, then they are
coplanar.

H: Lines intersect
C: They are coplanar.

1. Marc’s grades will be better if he submits his

project on time.
2. Rabbits are rodents
3. A trapezoid has exactly one pair of parallel
lines.

IV. ASSIGNMENTS
Instruction1: write a ½ crosswise.

a. Create a two-paragraph essay about how

conditional statement affects your day-to-day life.
This will be pass tomorrow.
Instruction2: Study in advance converse, inverse and
contrapositive statements.
