1. Shailesh Pathak has been appointed as the Secretary General of FICCI.
➢ Established in 1927, FICCI is the largest and oldest apex trade organization in India.
➢ Director General Arun Chawla will retire on June 30, 2023 and transition to an advisory role.

2. Rajesh Malhotra was appointed as the Principal Director General of PIB.

➢ Along with this, he has also become the Chief Spokesperson of the Government of India. Rajesh Malhotra is a 1989
batch officer, who has replaced Satyendra Prakash.

3. NASA will appoint a woman as the agency's science chief for the first time.
➢ NASA has appointed solar scientist 'Nicola Fox' as the US space agency's Science Chief, who heads its Heliophysics
Division.
➢ Fox will lead NASA's Science Directorate, an entity with an annual budget of about $7 billion.
➢ She will be the first woman to play the role.
➢ She is the former top scientist of the Parker Solar Probe mission to study the sun.

5. Rashmi Shukla has been appointed as the new Director General of SSB.
➢ IPS officer, Rashmi Shukla will be the new Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
➢ She is a 1988 batch IPS officer of Maharashtra cadre. She will be the second woman Director General of SSB.
➢ SSB is a border-guarding force deployed on Nepal and Bhutan border.

6. Vo Van Thuong was elected as the new President of Vietnam.


➢ Vo Van Thuong (52-years), a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam, was elected as the new
President of Vietnam for a term till 2026 by the Parliament there.
➢ Vo Van Thuong replaces Nguyen Xuan Phuc, who resigned as President in January 2023.

➢ He earned 195 caps during 10 years for South Africa.

9. Jishnu Baruah became the new chairman of electricity regulator Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CRC).

10. The Supreme Court gave its verdict regarding the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner.
➢ The Supreme Court ruled that the Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners would be appointed by
the President on the advice of a committee consisting of the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok
Sabha and the Chief Justice of India.
➢ Justice K.M. Joseph, said the panel would be implemented until a law in this regard is passed by Parliament.

11. S. S. Dubey has been appointed as the new Controller General of Accounts (CGA) of India.
➢ He is the 28th officer to hold the post of Controller General of Accounts (CGA).
➢ He is an Indian Civil Accounts Service (IAS) officer of 1989 batch.
➢ The Controller General of Accounts (CGA) is the 'Principal Adviser' on accounting matters to the Central
Government.
➢ It is also responsible for the preparation of accounts, deposits, treasury control and conduct of internal audit of the
Central Government.

12. Shalija Dhami became the first woman officer to command a front line combat unit in the IAF.

13. Amir Tamim appointed Sheikh Mohammed as the new Prime Minister of Qatar.
➢ Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has appointed Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul
Rahman Al-Thani as the new Prime Minister of the country.
➢ The decision comes after the former Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani accepted his
resignation.

14. Thomas A. Sangma was elected unopposed Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly in Meghalaya.
➢ Thomas A. Sangma is the MLA of the National People's Party (NPP) in Meghalaya.
➢ Conrad Sangma's National People's Party (NPP) has emerged as the single largest party in the Meghalaya Assembly
elections.
➢ There are a total of 60 assembly seats in Meghalaya. However, elections have been held for only 59 seats.
➢ Konrad Sangma took oath as the Chief Minister of Meghalaya for a second term.

15. Ram Chandra Paudel was elected the new President of Nepal.
➢ Senior Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Paudel was elected as the new President of Nepal on 9 March 2023.
➢ The President is elected by an electoral college consisting of members of the Federal Parliament and Provincial
Assemblies.
➢ He will succeed Bidya Devi Bhandari as the Head of State of Nepal. He is the former Speaker of the House of
Representatives, the lower house of the Parliament of Nepal.

18. Surekha Yadav became India's first woman loco pilot to operate the Vande Bharat Express.

➢ The monastery dates back to the Bhumkara dynasty.

1. A 13th century temple has been discovered at Pushpagiri Kshetram in Cuddapah district.
➢ The remains of a 13th century Hindu temple have recently been discovered amid a scrub forest, northeast of the
Durga temple, on top of a hill in Pushpagiri Kshetram, Vallur Mandal, Cuddapah district, Andhra Pradesh.
➢ The architectural features of the ruins show a style similar to that of a temple at Vallur which was built by the
Kayastha kings in the 13th century.
