Ayannn..... So before we start our discussion class, let’s have a game first to freshen up your mind
before our discussion okay?. So the goal of this game is to test your knowledge about the types of
photography, if you already have an idea about this.
Parang ayaw nyo naman po eh, konti lang sumagot. Again, class do you want to play?
Actually this game class, it is very common na eh, I'm sure lahat naman po kayo Familiar na sa 4pics

Game Rules
But before that class, let me explain first the Game Rules;
Okay po?
Next is
(Basahin ang 2nd bullet)
Next, just in case na dumating tayo sa point nato, if no one wants to answer, well of course, we need to
call a random student para sumagot. We're not going to skip, or reveal the answer in the game, unless...
talagang walang makahula ng tamang sagot. Okay po?
Next, to assure that all of you will participate in my class, if the random student that I called to answer,
he/she will be considered as absent, kapag hindi sya nagrespond, is it clear class?
Well you can type your answer in the chat box, okay po?
Next
Now class, if ever you can't identify the correct answer in the game, if ever lang naman. You can use a
hint or clue, but you can only use 1 hint per item, since we have 5 item game, that means you only have
5Hints.
Okay po?
And last
(AFTER NG GAME)
Okay Very Good that’s all, thank you so much class for participating sa ating Game.
So before we end the game, can you please read what’s written on the slide ate edralyn?
Motivation
So ayun, It says “You get what you focus on, so focus on what you want”
Here’s the reason why, in photography po kase, in order for you to capture a great image, or nice view
of an specific place or environment, you have to focus on your subject.
Kase pano po kung yung subject nyo is gumagalaw, do you think you can capture a great image of your
subject? Of course not.
The result can be blurry depending on how fast your subject moves.
If your subject is static or di gumagalaw, then a quick capture is not a problem. But still you need to
focus parin. Kase minsan kahit hindi na gumagalaw yung subject mo, you can still make a mistake.
That’s why class, in photography patience is also required to achieved a great result.
Just like photography class, we also need to focus. Saan po? Sa ating dreams or goals in life.
If you want to be like this or to be like that, focus on it. You want to achieve this in your life, focus on
that thing. If there’s a lot of negativity affecting your decisions in life, just ignore it, dito ka nakapokus
hayaan mo yung mga bagay na di makakatulong sayo. Just like photography, if you made a mistakes,
repeat it, retake it, because that mistakes will serve as your key to improve yourself. Don’t be rush, na
gusto mo agad ng instant result, No, It’s a big NO for that behavior. Always remember class Be...Patient,
kase everything goes through the process.
Now may I ask you class, Who among you here, love taking pictures?
Can you type "Me" in the chat box with an emoji that shows how much you love taking pictures.
Well actually class, all of us love taking pictures, sino ba naman hindi diba?
Especially if your phone have a High Quality Camera. Cause We all knew class that taking pictures have a
lot of Advantages; Like for example: for Memories, by simply looking at your old photos, you can recall
what happened during that time, what else? for Entertainment, by taking pictures you can serve that as
your stress reliever like for example using the pic that you capture to make a meme, that’s
entertainment, what else? Pwede ring hobby lalo na pag bored ka, and also by taking pictures, you can
also use it as an evidence to prove that you visited this place, you eat on this place, you play, or you
have fun on this place.
But the question is, aware din po ba tayo kung anong tawag sa letrato na kinuhanan natin?
And that's what we are going to discuss today, ano po ba yun? The 3 Basic Types of Photography.
Now class, do you have any idea about these 3 Basic Types of Photography? Or kahit guess lang po?
Anyone?
Try to remember class yung mga naunang 3 items natin sa game kanina, can you recall it?
Ayunnn tama po, very good ate/kuya ____ , So that's the 3 basic types of photography. The Landscape,
Portrait, and Documentary Photography.
Eh sir pano po yung dalawa kanina, yung forest and candids photography?
I'm sure class, familiar na kayo sa word na to eh, especially when it comes to Arts subject madalas
natong nababanggit.
Okay, For you Kuya Christian.. what comes in your mind, when you hear the word landscape? Kahit 1
word or phrase lang po
Okay class, let's find out, what is the definition of landscape photography.
Landscape Photography
So when do we say Landscape Photography class, this is the art of capturing the nature. Meaning to say,
the main focus or subject in this type of photography, was the Nature. Pero ang tanong, sa Nature lang
ba sya naka Focus? Hindi po, according nga sa slide na binasa kanina ni ate Patricia, “ nature and the
outdoors” so meaning to say class, your subject in this type of photography was the view outside, that
means to say if you want to do a landscape photography, you have to do it outside or maybe you can do
it at your windows to capture the view outside.
Para mas madali nyong magets, when it comes to landscape photography class, it’s either natural or
man-made lang yung subject nyo in this type of photography, pag sinabi nating natural, eto yung nanjan
na talaga sa paligid natin, just like the nature. And the man-made naman, well of course these are the
things that the people have made. Just like the buildings or infrastructure.
Usually yung makikita nating subjects nyan is yung mga bundok, yung mga view na may tubig, like yung
dagat, Trees, and the view of the city, just like what I’ve said earlier.
Gaya nung pinagawa sainyo nung elementary days class, I don’t know if you can still remember that, but
I’m sure karamihan satin nakagawa na nung drawing sa bond paper, yung may bundok tas may araw sa
gitna ng bundok diba? Minsan nga may smily face pa yung araw eh. And sa baba nun, merong kubo at
palayan tas may paletter V pa na mga palay at ibon diba?
Of course those students whose not good at drawing, they are the only one who can relate to this.
Now if I ask you class, what do you think is the ideal or recommend camera position in landscape
photography?
Is it Horizontal or Vertical?
Ehh sir pano po kung kinapture ko sya in Vertical Position, hindi napo ba sya Landscape Photography?
Actually, Landscape Photography parin sya, any camera position will do, as long as your main subject or
focus in your landscape photography was the Nature or Outdoors Environment. Kaya lang, bakit mas
recommended yung Horizontal Position class? Do you know the reason why?
Okay, It is for a wide range view. For example if you capture the view of the mountain in vertical
position, the result is great kase maganda yung view, but it can be more beautiful if you recapture it in
Cause that means you don’t want na eto lang yung masasama sa picture, you want it in horizontal
position kase para mas marami ang makita sa picture. So that’s why in landscape photography, we use
horizontal position for a wide range view.
Again, when do we say Landscape Photography class, this is the type of photography that focuses on the
nature and outdoors environment. We recommend the horizontal position for a wide range view. Clear?
Now, proceed to another slide, I have here the different types of Landscape Photography. Ayan po as
you can see in the slide. So dito nyo malalaman class, kung saan ba naca classify yung mga larawan na
madalas nating makita, not only in social media but also when we do searching on google, nakikita natin
to. So tara, let’s find out.
Okay, so kung kanina we are focusing on the backgrounds view, this time we will focus on other subject
naman, which is the person, and that’s what we called Portrait Photography.
So what is Portrait Photography?, can you please read the slide ate Marijoe.
Portrait Photography
In portrait photography class, you are capturing the expression, the emotion, attitude, and the whole
personality or identity of your subject, so as a portrait photographer, dun ka magpopokus sa tao. That’s
why there’s a blurry background included here, kase bakit? para mas nakapokus yung attention ng
viewer sa subject.
Some Portrait Photographers class, considering the background to match with the expression of the
subject. Which is tama naman, kase para mas maganda yung kalalabasan ng picture, like for example; if
your expression is fierce or serious then the perfect background for that is either gray or black or other
dark colors. But if your expression is happy or lively, more likely your backgrounds must be brighter as
day.
Aside from that class, the lighting and posing are also some aspects that must be considered if you want
a great result in portrait photography. Kase imagine class, nagpicture ka lang pero you didn’t considered
the lighting and posing, the result is just plain or normal lang or maybe boring depending on your
expression. Actually yung posing di naman sya masyado required, but the lighting? Yes. Pero may
lighting man o wala, oks lang yun, because these aspects are only considerable if you want to achieved a
great result.
Let me give you an example class. Pero syempre magbibigay nalang tayo ng example, gamitin na natin
pagmumukha natin aba haha.
So ayan as you can see class, ayan yung panahong pogi pa ako haha, deh seryoso,
Yes, I consider the lighting, and to be honest class, so far yan palang yung mga matitino kong pic, yung
iba kase with filters na eh haha,
So yun, that’s the portrait photography class. Again when do we say portrait photography, you are
capturing the emotion, expression, personality or attitude of the person. To put it simple, in this type of
photography, your main focus or subject was the person.
Is it clear class?
Now, baka magtanong kayo, meron din po bang different types of portrait photography? Meron po.
Traditional Portraits
So let’s start with the Traditional Portraits, from the word traditional, meaning nakagawian or
nakasanayan, it is the usual or common type of portrait photography, like yung mga kadalasan na
ginagawa nyong wallpaper or DP.
Sir, ibig po bang sabihin pati yung mga normal na pagpipicture namin is also considered as traditional
portraits?
Yes po, but it depends on how you capture it. For example, nagpicture ka pero nakapokus lang yung
pagcapture mo sa dimple mo, sa abs mo, sa noo mo, diba?
Of course not, because in portrait photography, uulitin ko lang po, nakapokus yun sa pagcapture ng
attitude, emotion, expression, and beauty of the person. In short, nakapokus lang talaga sya sa tao
mismo. Okay po? And that’s what we can see in traditional portraits, gaya po ng pinakita ko sainyong
picture ko kanina class, that is also an example of traditional portraits.
Yes portrait photography sya, but to be more specific class, it is classified as traditional portraits, is it
clear class?
Candids Portraits
Lifestyle Portraits
Glamour Portraits
Conceptual Portraits
Self Portraits
Close Up Portraits
Group Portraits
Environmental Portraits
Pet Portraits
Now baka po magtanong kayo, is there also a type of photography that includes pet animals like yung
aso at pusa? Meron po
From the Word Pet means alagang hayop, under parin sya ng portrait photography, so usually class,
thebest examples that we can see in pet portraits are the dogs and cats, since sila yung maaamong
hayop na makikita natin sa loob ng bahay. Sometimes can be wild pero they can be tamed by humans.
But of course other animals can be considered also, gaya ng rabbit, yung parrot, anything that can be
considered as pet. Magkaiba po sila class sa general type ng animal photography which is the Wildlife
Photography. In pet potraits kase class, ang concern mo lang dun is yung kakulitan ng alaga mo pag
pipicturan mona sila, while in wildlife photography class, skills, tapang at may pagiingat ang kailangan
mo, because in some wildlife photography you need to learn the camouflage to avoid being attacked by
other wild animals. Camouflage means, pagbabalatkayo, meaning, in other term pagdidisguise. So yun
po, naintindihan nyo ba yung Pet Portraits? To put it simple, your subject here are the tamed animals.
Okay po?
Documentary Photography
Next let’s proceed to the last type of photography, the Documentary Photography, im sure lahat na tayo
pamilyar na dito diba?
So yun, just like what I’ve said earlier, taking pictures can be used as an evidence, at dito napo papasok
yun sa documentary photography. Admit it or not, mas naniniwala tayo sa letrato kesa sa salita right?
Like for example, ako na mababa lagi sa quiz at exam, sinabi ko na, “Nagchampion ako sa Quiz Bee nung
isang araw”
Hindi diba?
But if I show you the picture of my trophy that includes my name on it and the date when I won it,
maniniwala na kayo or hindi?
Maniniwala na right?
So that’s the purpose of documentary photography, para malaman natin na this event, person, things or
phenomenon actually happened or existed.
And now let’s find out ano ba yung ibat ibang sakop, included in documentary photography. So we have
here, apat lang po. The Portraiture, Photojournalism, Street Photography, and Pictorial Recording of Live
Events. So let’s define them one by one.
Portraiture
Okayyy… Portraiture, there goes the key word, It is the art of creating portraits.
That maybe right class, but… No, because in portrait photography class you are focusing on the people’s
beauty, attitude, personality or emotion when capturing them, and most important, most of the
examples of portrait photography why does creating portraits or portraiture under the documentary
photography?
It is
Kase class, portraiture means creating portraits. Isa po sa mga example neto class is yung mga mukha ng
mga Famous Philosopher na nakikita natin sa mga libro
So yan po
Just in case you ask, bakit kasama yung portraiture sa documentary photography?
Makikilala nyo po ba yung mukha nila kung pangalan lang titignan nyo?
Hindi diba?
For example… Jose Rizal, so for you class na hindi nakita mukha nya, ano yung tanong na papasok sa isip
nyo? Usually gento, anong itsura nya?
But sometimes class even though that person in portrait was not famous, or more likely common civilian
lang sya, basta you create a portrait of her/him, its under the portraiture. Okay?
Okay next
Photojournalism
Ang kaibahan naman neto class sa portraiture, in photojournalism nafifigure out mo sa letrato kung ano
yung nangyayari during that time. Gumagawa kana ng kwento sa pamamagitan ng letrato.
In newspapers, I don’t know if you still read newspapers class, but I think hindi na haha, pero may mga
part sa dyaryo na may nilalagay yung journalist na kwento including the pictures that they capture.
Dalawa kase yan class, picture and the story, so that’s the components of photojournalism. Wherein
yung picture ang magsisilbing evidence to prove that your story is true. Kase gaya nga ng sabi ko kanina
class, we can’t just believe in words.
So that’s Photojournalism. You are creating a story through the means of photography.
