OGL 481 Pro-Seminar I:

PCA-Political Frame Worksheet

Worksheet Objectives:
1. Describe the political frame
2. Apply the political frame to your personal case situation

Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1) Briefly restate your situation from Module 1 and your role.

The problem I brought up last week included how Ticketmaster handled the presale for
Taylor Swift's Eras Tour. I took on the role of a customer in this scenario who was trying
to get a code to buy a ticket for the show.

2) Describe how the politics of the organization influenced the situation.

In this scenario, it reminds me of what we learned in chapter 9 about power, conflict, and

coalition and how the Boeing spokesman didn’t want to admit that the 737 MAX had a
lot of flaws and needed to be fixed. How I see it is exactly how the politics of
ticketmaster caused this situaiton. To the customers ticketmaster seem like they were
more concerned about power and making a profit from that sales. They also never
admitted that they were wrong but they did issue an statement that said “"Due to
extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket
inventory to meet that demand, tomorrow's public on-sale for Taylor Swift | The Eras
Tour has been cancelled," and that the problem was because “unprecedented demand and
people who went to the site without Verified Fan access codes.”

3) Recommend how you would use organizational politics for an alternative course of
action regarding your case.

Organizational politics may be used to promote beneficial change and outcomes inside a
company, despite the fact that they can have a bad reputation. There are a few ways that
organizational politics may be employed in the issue of Ticketmaster's handling of the
presale for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour to urge a different course of action.

4) Reflect on what you would do or not do differently given what you have learned
about this frame.

From what I have learned about the political frame, what I would of done differently is
that recognize the importance of politics, advocating for fairness and equity, and
leveraging networks and coalitions, I would be better able to navigate complex situations
and influence outcomes that benefit both myself and others.
