Modular Activity 01: Philosophical Perspective of the Self

Name: Baluyut, lyza E. Dept/Section: College of Hospitality and Management BSTM1B

School: Dominican College of Tarlac Teacher: Asher John M. Cauguiran, LTP, MAED GC

If SOCRATES is still alive today, what will you tell him? And what will you do to make his
idea about the self-relevant in this pandemic?

I choose Socrates because he believed the best way for people to live was to focus on the pursuit
of virtue rather than the pursuit, for instance, of material wealth. He always invited others to try
to concentrate more on friendships and a sense of true community, for Socrates felt this was the
best way for people to grow together as a populace. What will I tell him? I hope that he can able
to write down any if his thoughts and ideas and not just only recorder to his student Plato, he
wrote nothing down, most of what we know about him came from his most famous student:
Plato. What will I do to make his idea about the self-relevant in this pandemic? His famous
statement “The unexamined life is not worth living.” Socrates believed that if we go through life
& do not reflect on what we have done & how we have lived our lives especially during this
Pandemic then what kind of life we are living? Socrates statement can be an inspiration to every
human life to know that their life is worth living despite of any challenges and crisis we are
facing right now. All of us have suffered lost, hardships, and questions that affects our life. Why
not ask yourself first “WHO I AM?” and “WHY AM I HERE?” with those questions you can
find your own value and reason to live. Love more deeply, show respect to others, and forgive
yourself. Live the way you want and be yourself in that way you will be freely happy and
peaceful.
