E. REVIEW

1
Ask the students to identify which of
the unit fractions has denominator of
10 and below. Thumbs up if it is
below 1o, thumbs down if it is not.

1. 2/10
2. 1/5 1. 
3. 3/9 2. 
5/16 3. 
4.
4. 
5. 3/23 5. 

F. MOTIVATION:

Ask the students to read the following

fractions. (The chosen students will read the
given unit fractions)

1. One-fourth
2. One-third
3. One-ninth
4. One-fifth
5. One-sixth

After they read the unit fractions. Ask

(The chosen students will write the
them to write the symbol of those unit unit fractions)
fractions.

1. ¼
2. 1/3
3. 1/9
4. 1/5
5. 1/6

G. LESSON PROPER

Fraction- represent the parts of a

whole or collection of objects. A
fraction has two parts. The number on
the top of the line is called the
numerator. It tells how many equal
parts of the whole or collection are
taken.  The number below the line is
called the denominator.

Numerator- is shown on top of a line

and is the number of parts of the
whole.

2
Denominator- the bottom number in
a fraction that shows the number of
equal parts that has been divided into.

A unit fraction is a fraction where the

numerator (top number) is 1 and the
denominator (bottom number) is a
whole number.

In reading unit fraction, read first the

numerator before the denominator.

1- Numerator
4- Denominator

On reading the numerator, we used

cardinal numbers.

Cardinal numbers- are used for

counting real objects or counting
things.

Example: one, two, three, four, five,

six, seven, eight, nine, ten

Ordinal numbers- indicate the order

of collection of things within a list.
(except for the 2, it is red as half)

Third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh,

eighth, ninth, tenth

Try to read and write the following

unit fractions.

The teacher will provide the drawing

of Unit fraction.

(The students will conduct this

activity by pair)
H. APPLICTION: Pairing
Activity

In a pairing activity. Observe the

symbol and the picture, tell what are
these unit factions.

Direction: Write it on the last column.

1. 1/3 One-third

2. 1/6 One-sixth

1. 1/3
3. 1/7 One-
seventh

3
2. 1/6 4. 1/8 One-
eighth

3. 1/7 5. 1/10 One-tenth

4. 1/8

5. 1/10
 I will read the unit fractions
by using cardinal numbers,
and for writing is through
ordinal numbers.
I. SYNTHESIS

 How will you read and write

the unit fraction with the
denominator of 10 and below?

Ask a student to do it.

EVALUATION:

Direction: Read the following unit fractions.

1. ½
2. 1/3
3. ¼
4. 1/5
5. 1/6
