RESEARCH The primary research that I did prior to the production

of my advert consisted of conducting a survey
regarding the style and certain narrative aspects of
the advert. The secondary research that I did
consisted of watching and taking notes on other male
fragrance adverts including Dior sauvage and Hugo
Boss. This helped to understand codes and
conventions used in these adverts, overall making
secondary research the most important source of
intel for this project.

PLANNING While I completed many sheets of pre-production

paperwork in order to prepare for this project, ideas
for the actual advert itself originated on the very first
lesson of the project even before conducting
research. I found this planning process incredibly
useful for our advert and important for building our
teamwork as a group as it is important for all
members to have an equal share in the planning
process and for everyone to be on the same page.

TEAM PLAYER I think that one way I took initiative within my team
was by taking on multiple roles. This included
directing the advert and also starring in the advert.
This was a fairly daunting task at first because these
roles are very different from one another however I
was determined to make it work. This action of taking
on multiple responsibilities I think helped my team
greatly as it allowed everyone to put more focus into
their own roles within the group.

PROBLEM SOLVING One fairly surprising problem we encountered during

the production process of this project, was the
unexpected divide that occurred in our group. This
involved certain members not attending sessions of
filming for unexplained reasons. The members of the
group that showed initiative overcame this issue by
utilising our roles in creative and expansive ways
which made up for the lack of work from other
members.

OWNERSHIP As briefly explained before, I ended up taking on both

roles as the director while also starring in the advert
as an actor. While the acting aspect of this was very
daunting as I lacked experience in that field and
confidence, I believe I showed ownership by working
hard within that role for the greater good of the
project.

LEARN AND IMPROVE One thing that I have learnt from this project is how
complex the whole production process is, including
pre and post production work. Learning this now will
help me in future projects as now I have a better
understanding of how much time is required on
certain parts of the project.

One thing that I think I have to improve upon, is

communication within our group. While I think that
the divide in our group was primarily due to
irresponsibility of other members, being better at
communication I think would help prevent problems
like this

MEET DEADLINES Overall, me and my group were incredibly successful

at meeting deadlines and utilised our time very
efficiently.
