Fraternities have thrived and grown throughout the years, promising help and support when
needed, a sense of community, and brotherly love. But what happens when that affectionate pledge ends
up killing a member of the group the members refer to as family?
Several fraternity organizations have a reputation for inciting fights amongst fraternity rivals. In
some cases, they prey on helpless students without fraternity ties. Fraternity members can still freely
recruit innocent students despite certain schools' announced bans on them on their campuses due to
inadequate enforcement.
What's worse is that there are teachers who are senior frat members themselves and are
responsible for recruiting their kids. The law should begin by distinguishing between gangster-style
fraternities and genuine civic-focused organizations, and those with a history of violence should be
outright prohibited.
The school should launch an investigation into any reference of the fraternity or any possession of
its insignia, followed by expulsion. Also, no educator or representative of the institution should belong to
a forbidden fraternity. The legislation needs to be strict to prevent violence in classrooms, which are
meant to be places of learning rather than hubs for cruel gang recruitment under the guise of brotherhood
groups.
