Hey, Mia!
I’ve read your post and i must admit, it’s a tough situation. I can’t decide for you, but I can
tell my opinion.
It’s funny, because i’ve never actually played on any musical instrument even though i’ve
always wanted to. I do believe being able to play on musical instruments is a wonderful thing
and creating music could be one of the best feelings ever. That’s why you should never give
up playing. About the music school I’m not so sure.
I do know what it feels like to do something for years that once made you happy but now
you just got really tired of. I loved drawing and painting as a kid but then years passed by,
and eventually I just found other activites that I enjoyed much more. And that’s totally fine,
because I still love painting and when I’m in that mood, I do it, because it still makes me
happy. But once you feel like it’s more like a burden, than something that produces you joy,
you should definitely think it through. You can ask for advice but in the end you have to
make that decision for yourself. I know your father only wants good for you, buti f that’s not
what you want, then don’t let him stop you.
I think you should decide what you want to do in the future, because if you see yourself as a
professial musician, then you shouldn’t quit, for sure. If not, then in my opinion do what
your heart tells you to do. Just remember, passing an exam won’t change anything, and
music will always be there for you, whenever you sit down to the piano.
