1. Yesterday rescue workers evacuated tourists and park rangers after Llaima
volcano erupted. People around the area were in danger. Wind and smoke made
things worse. Ashes invaded the woods and camping areas. The eruptions sent
lava down the volcano`s east side. Authorities closed the park for tourists.

2. This episode brings back memories of the 1994 eruption. Months before the
eruption, park rangers of Conguillío National Park reported underground
movement. They heard sounds coming from its inside. But the crater had snow on
top. People didn´t see any signs of eruption.

3. Llaima is one of Chile´s most active volcanoes. It is in Conguillío in the region of

Araucanía , near Temuco. This National Parks famous for the Llaima volcano,
beautiful lakes and lagoons, wonderful animals and Araucaria forests. Here you
can see condors, beavers, wood peckers, wild ducks foxes and sometimes pumas.

4. Hundreds of tourists visit the park during the summer. The weather is warm and
temperatures, the hottest month is January (average temperature 15ºC) Some of
the most popular activities here are guided trekking, watching nature and
swimming.
