Introduction
The digital interface of the CMP 150™ high frequency X-ray generator is used to
connect the digital imaging system. It can be configured by setting the
Interface Options through the Console or the GenWare™ utility.
This supplement describes information regarding the digital interface option 40,
which is the setting for the CPI standard interface.
Connections
The digital interface, J25, is located on the Generator Control board. Table 1
contains the connection of the CPI digital interface, Interface Options = 40.
Table 1: CPI Interface Connections
CPI Interface Generator Signal Type Schematics Ref.
Signal Name Connection
Outputs From the Generator
J25-1 +24V when DIGITAL_OUT1\
inactive DIGITAL_OUT_P1
EXP_REQ +24V when active
J25-4 DIGITAL_OUT1A/B
J25-30, 12 Differential Output
Warning: Before performing the next step, you must use good judgment and
work practices to avoid injury and damage to equipment.
5. Remove the generator cover and set all the hardware aside.
7. Refer to Figure 3. Measure the potential across TP1 (+) and TP2 (-) on the
BCB to confirm the DC Bus voltage is below 60 VDC.
Note: To avoid damaging the test points TP1 (+) and TP2 (-) on the BCB, and for
improved access to these points, it is strongly recommended to use flexible probes
to make the measurement.
Theory of Operation
The Generator Control board contains an additional set of inputs and outputs
used to interface to a digital imaging system when interface option is set to CPI
interface option 40.
The interface can be used with a Bucky enabled or disabled for a selected
receptor. When a Bucky is enabled the generator will first drive the Bucky, and
only when the Bucky is ready the generator will drive the detector (Figure 6). If
the Bucky for a selected receptor is disabled, the generator will only drive the
detector (Figure 5). For Bucky interconnections and the instructions on
programming a Bucky interface refer to the Programming the Generator of the
CMP 150™ Service Manual, part number MAN908080.
The Prep Request signal (EXP_PREP) is an output signal from the Generator to a
digital imaging system. The generator will activate the EXP_PREP signal when
the Prep input is enabled (Prep button/switch pushed/pressed) and it will
deactivate the signal when the Prep input is disabled (Prep button/switch is
released) or if the exposure ends or an error occurs.
The Exposure Request signal (EXP_REQ) is an output signal from the generator
to a digital imaging system. The generator will activate the EXP_REQ signal
when the X-Ray input is enabled (X-Ray button/switch pushed/pressed) and the
generator is ready to expose and it will deactivate the signal when the X-Ray
input is disabled (X-ray button/switch released) or if the exposure ends or an
error occurs.
