Data collection

While constructing our prototype, we used some measurement tools, like:

1-Vernier caliper.
After each constructing trial in the prototype, we used the vernier caliper to
measure the deflection while adding the load, and we
estimated the deflection to be:
 The first trial :2cm <failed>.
 The second trial: 0 cm<failed>.
 The third trial:0.5cm <succeeded>.

2- Sensitive balance
We used the sensitive balance to calculate the amounts of the materials in order
to make a ratio between them as the following
: Melamine formaldehyde: PVC: Talc powder
30%: 40%: 30%

3- cutting saw
We used a saw to make the mold while cutting out
the wood on the dimensions
of the inner and outer mold
Load Deflection
3kg 0cm
After constructing our first prototype we tested it, 6kg 0.5cm
We started to put the load by 3kg at the first, we found that there 9kg 1cm
was no deflection, so, we to increase the load, and the tunnel
started to bend, and the deflection exceeded the required length as 12kg 1.5cm
in the following table, so we started another trial to enhance the 15kg 2cm
deflection.
load deflection
We made another trial, but we increased ratio of melamine
3kg 0.00cm
formaldehyde to the other materials, to make the prototype
more stable, then we started to put the load as in the following 6kg 0.00cm
table, we found that there was no deflection even when 9kg 0.00cm
increasing the load, so we didn’t approve this trial.
12kg 0.00cm
15kg 0.00cm
In the third trial we made the ratio between the material to be
30:40:30 between melamine: PVC: talc powder respectively and
we made this ratio regarding to the two past trials, then we Load Deflection
started to test it. 3kg 0.0cm
As we were adding the load, we found a little deflection but
with a good ratio regarding to the design requirements. We 6kg 0.2cm
found that for every 3kg of the load there was a deflection with 9kg 0.3cm
0.1cm, so we approved this trial
12kg 0.4cm
15kg 0.5cm
