It discusses how the movie shows that people can be both good and flawed, and not to judge based on appearance. Course & Section: BSBA-HRDM 1F Instructor: Ms. Sheena Kate Mercado Lit (Literatures in the Contemporary World) Reaction Paper Direction: Make a reaction paper about the movie “Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince.” A summary of one or two paragraphs… The wizarding and Muggle worlds have both experienced Lord Voldemort’s wrath during his ascent to power. Severus Snape, a supporter of Dumbledore’s anti-Voldemort alliance, meets with Narcissa Malfoy and swears unbreakably to defend her son Draco. When pursuing Draco to Borgin and Burke, Harry runs into his best friends, Ron and Hermione. In addition to his mother Merope and his uncle Morfin, Voldemort’s family members are revealed to Harry. He also learns that Voldemort divided his soul into seven Horcruxes, of which one is in Voldemort, one is in a snake, one is in Merope’s locket, and the remaining two are possibly concealed in Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, as well as Gryffindor-related items. While Ron and Lavender split up and Harry becomes obsessed with Ginny, he spends most of his time fulfilling his responsibilities as the Quidditch captain and keeping up with Draco Malfoy. To retrieve and destroy the locket, Harry and Dumbledore depart from Hogwarts together, but Draco Malfoy puts Dumbledore’s life in danger, and Snape pushes into the tower, murdering Dumbledore. Ron and Hermione promise to stand by Harry after he learns that the locket he and Dumbledore retrieved is not a Horcrux. Harry is devastated by this rumours. A reaction of one or two paragraphs… Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince serves as a gentle reminder that people may be both good and flawed, and that we shouldn’t always judge a book by its cover. Sirius Black, Harry Potter’s godfather, was wrongly accused of helping Voldemort kill Harry’s parents, but throughout the course of their brief relationship, they became the sweetest and most loving godparents Harry could have asked for. I’m used to giving up my wants and needs for the happiness or productivity of others. Years ago, when my sister wasn’t on the 4Ps beneficiary list, we gave her the money instead because she wasn’t eligible for it. The two most significant revelations in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince are that we shouldn’t assume things that we shouldn’t and that the term Prince was derived from his mother’s last name. We should seek out the wand, sword, and cup that would be practical and potent rather than being greedy and content with the least things. Finally, being under someone’s control is never enjoyable, and Harry and others who were by his side felt confined. A conclusion… Despite Severus Snape assassinating Albus Dumbledore, I absolutely think that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince ends on a very depressing and tragic note. Harry’s suspicion that Snape is not entirely trustworthy and that Malfoy is a Death Eater who was sent by Voldemort to kill Dumbledore is confirmed by this. We learned that life isn’t always equitable from Professor Severus Snape. He showed us that, even though we may wish for the best, things rarely go as planned. Because of this, we should stop complaining about how unfair life is and instead just accept that everything happens for a purpose.
