grasps, and illumination of difficult abstractions and
his intimate knowledge of the original documents
make him a model social scientist.

▪ Paulo C. Campos was a Filipino physician and
educator noted for his promotion of wider
community health care and his achievements in
the field of nuclear medicine for which he was
dubbed as "The Father of Nuclear Medicine in the

▪ Alfredo Mahar Francisco Amante Lagmay (born
October 4, 1966) is a Filipino geologist. He is executive
director of Project NOAH (Nationwide Operational
Assessment of Hazards) and a professor at
the National Institute of Geological Sciences of
the University of the Philippines Diliman.
▪ Dr. Alfredo Mahar Francisco A. Lagmay was recognized
for his significant and pioneering research contributions
toward understanding the multi-faceted aspects of
natural hazards, including volcanic hazards, tectonics,
persistent scatter interferometry of faulted regions, and
natural hazards management, particularly as they apply
to the Philippines.
▪ With his wide range of expertise and experience in
geology and disaster science, he continues to serve the
Filipino people by conducting research in areas stricken
by disaster.

▪ Orosa invented the palayok oven to enable
families without access to electricity to bake, and
developed recipes for local produce, including
cassava, bananas, and coconut. Her banana
ketchup became a favorite condiment and cooking
ingredient in the archipelago.

▪ National Scientist Dr. Francisco O. Santos was a firm
believer in nutrition’s crucial role in Philippine society. He
devoted his life to studying the nutritional value of
Filipino food and the connection between social class
and dietary patterns. He also initiated and led what is
now known as the Food and Nutrition Research Institute.
The progress of a country is largely dependent on the
health and well-being of its citizens. This is what human
nutritionist and agricultural chemist Dr. Francisco O.
Santos believed.
