 3. Make lessons relevant! This may be the most important goal of them
all. I should always have a personal story or
two on deck and ready to share. Students
want to see that these tools and lessons will
benefit them in the future and that their time
is just as valuable as mine.

Long-Term Goals: Teachers who are dedicated to their profession and to improving the lives of
students will continually look for ways to grow and learn. The best way to ensure that learning is
prioritized is to create a long-term goal. Create one long term goal that is specific and
measurable. Make sure to discuss the following:
Long-Term Goal: Be RELEVANT
Rationale: Why did you choose this goal? How
do you expect it to improve the outcomes of your
future students?
End Date: By when do you expect to accomplish
this goal?
Action Timeline: What steps will you take to
complete this goal, and by when will you take
them? Example:
1/31/18: Join AACTE
All too often students can critique the lesson
at hand asking “when will I ever use this”? I
need to make sure that everything we do in
my class is for good reason and will make
them successful both inside the school and
beyond. To accomplish this goal, I will share
personal stories, have my content relate to
modern interests, and utilize technology in the
classroom.
By the end of my time here (or end of my 1st
semester in my own classroom). I would like
to feel comfortable with my materials, my
personal stories, and have them relay back to
the tasks at hand.
3/24/2024: Provide multiple examples of real-
life environmental issues in the local area for
the upcoming research synthesis project.
3/31/2023: Create an example of my own
research synthesis project to demonstrate to
students what a good project should look,
feel, and sound like.
04/10/2023: Provide multiple examples of
Greek mythology and how the fables are not
much different than modern religions or
stories.

04/29/2023 Final Day of Student Teaching:
Have a surplus of materials, examples, and
tools to carry into my own classroom and
prepare for my first year on the job in my own
class.
The best resources to relate to students of this
generation are technology and social media. I
can use my time outside of class on
Instagram, Tik Tok, Chat GBT, etc. This will
help me relate to the students and build upon
my inventory of relatable content. The goal is
to stay one step ahead and live in the now!
