Description: This app lesson will develop a starting literacy skill for kindergarten
students’ alphabet pronunciation and letter writing.

Instructional Objective: Students will be able to write lower- and upper-case letters

the correct way, as well as be able to pronounce each letter sound.

Step 1 Students will use the app “ABC Magic Phonics” to learn how to pronunciation
each letter in the alphabet. This app teaches letter sounds by using images associated
with the letter to further understanding. The app speaks out loud the letter sound and
pronounces the word associated with the picture.

Step 2 After the students learn the letter sounds, they will then use the app “ABC Kids –
Tracing & Phonics” to practice their writing. The students will all use the app to trace the
upper case and lower-case letters. If a student finishes early, they can also use the
feature where they can match the upper-case letter to its pair lower case letter.

Step 3 Once students have their base understanding of writing the letters, I will ask
them all to pull up the Notability app. Here, I will say a word and ask the students to
write down whatever letter that word begins with. I will ask for the capital and lower
case of that letter. For example, I will say apple, and then the students will all write “A”
and “a”.
