To begin with, my research proposal revolves around the research question of if video

games have a positive impact on students' education. This question adds to the ongoing
discussion of whether video games benefit youth. Mine goes into specific kids who might need it
and could be a way to revamp schools in the future. The methods I will use to conduct my
research involve scouring the internet for studies and seeing if there are primary sources that
show the benefits of games on education. Once I collect all the necessary articles I will gather
the similarities or averages among results and use that to explain my viewpoint on the topic.
This is way more effective than using posts or videos about my topic. Having primary scholarly
sources helps me in comparing findings and finding ways to talk about them in my paper. Before
I do collect these primary sources I will look into videos and ted talks about the related subject
to see others' views on this debate about video games and the education given to children. I will
look through the UCF library as my archive and go to any relevant link given in those articles.
My selection criteria mainly include looking up peer-reviewed articles. The UCF library
does a great job of this because I can find these articles by clicking a checkbox. Most
importantly I want to find articles that show groups and findings that lead to the given research.
This way I could compare findings to results from multiple researchers. Using these criteria I
have found 2 good articles from the UCF Library database. One goes into the effects of
Minecraft on the students education. It talks about how Minecraft can improve communication
skills or help with the learning environment. The other article goes into the effectiveness of video
games in the English classroom. It talks about how games revolving around stories or language
literacy can help improve and invest their kids in learning the material better.
The timeline that will guide me through this process starts with week 5. I will look at 2
articles for that week. Highlight important or relevant info and keep notes I take about these
articles in a doc so I can have the important info more easily accessible. I will look over these
notes and highlights and see what I need from other sources and keep looking the next week.
On week 6 I will find two other articles and make sure they're not too closely related. Once I
make sure they go into other findings, I will set them aside. I will then do the same process I did
with week 5 and write the important info in the same google doc. Week 7 is a revision day. I will
look over all my notes and the articles themselves and pick the ones that are more relevant to
my topic and use them for the later paper. Finally, on Week 8 I will look through the database
one more time to see if I find any other articles I didn't see before and write notes and highlight
them. These will be kept away for later use unless they seem to be more useful, then I will swap
out one of my main articles.
