Activity 13 1. Ms Betito- ICT Integration

This research study was a literature review which focuses on the status of ICT
integration to the Philippines educational system together with its challenges, efforts
and interventions. Based on the deep analysis of the reviewed paper, the study
highlighted the existing efforts of the Philippines Government in upgrading the
technology based education through integrating ICT in the curriculum for basic
education. The study also revealed that adaptation and utilization of technology will be
useful and beneficial to the development of an organization and its outputs. The study
also suggested that teachers and school system should work hand in hand in order to
fully integrate innovative technology based teaching and learning processes which are
incorporated in the learning curricula. However, according to the author of the study
there were challenges that threaten the quality of technological training which
embedded in the following areas: Infrastructure and facilities, human resource, and the
need for a technological leader. The study emphasized on the importance of
infrastructure and computing devices available for educational usage among the
schools in the Philippines. The lack of infrastructure and computing devices (computer,
tablets, mobile phone, and alike) hamper the development of computer literacy among
the students would cause digital divide among students from rural and urban areas.
Next, is the lack of human resource who could teach ICT obstruct the exposure and
quality of ICT training and content of education taught in schools, hence the study
highlighted the important role of qualified human resource in integrating ICT in
education. Lastly, is the technological leader who understand the process and
importance of ICT integration and who would implement these innovations and
technological advancement in education.
In conclusion, the result of the study highlights the importance of the
Government’s ICT intervention programs. With the new era of industry 4.0 or the digital
era, the schools together with the help of the government must make sure that the
students skills were ready for the digital industry.
