“Unknown Parents”

My mother and father, unknown to me,

A mystery in my family tree.
Since I was a baby, they've been gone,
And though I've grown, I'm still alone.

I wonder what they looked like, what they did,

What their favorite songs were, what they hid.
Did they have dreams, aspirations, hopes?
Or did they struggle just to cope?

It's strange to think that I am here,

But I never knew my parents were near.
I wonder if they think of me,
Or if I'm just a memory.

Sometimes I feel an ache inside,

A longing for a family tied.
But then I remember, I am not alone,
For I have others who have shown

Their love and care, their strength and might,

Guiding me through life's dark night.
Though my parents may be unknown,
I am not lost, nor am I alone.

So to my mother and father, whoever they may be,

Know that your absence doesn't define me.
For I am loved, I am strong, I am free,
And I am the person I was meant to be.
