 1 FOOD ADDITIVES
Many of the food additives used by the food industry also occur naturally within
foods that people eat every day. For example, MSG

Farmers' excessive use of fertilizers and pesticides in agriculture to increase crop

and pesticides has resulted in contamination of the air, water, and soil.
 Fertilizers
Phosphorus from fertilizer can cause algae
to grow in lakes and ponds, starving fish of
oxygen and killing them. Fertilizers can also
pollute water with an excess of phosphates
and nitrates, rendering it unfit for human
consumption.
Pesticides
Pesticides affect the hormone systems of
animals, causing developmental and
reproductive problems. They also cause plants
to generate less phytochemicals, which are
beneficial to humans' health, and when a plant
produces fewer of them, it allows more
dangerous pests to damage the plant.
 3 DRINKING
Drinking too much can take a serious toll on your health.

• Potential short-term consequences of alcohol include hangovers and alcohol

poisoning, as well as falls and accidents, conflict, decreased inhibitions, and
dangerous behavior.
• Long-term alcohol intake contributes to about 200 different types of illnesses
and injuries.
 Production
Because alcohol use is widespread in
modern culture, the natural resources used
in the fermentation process, such as
grapes, hops, or barley, must be mass-
produced. Growing these crops on a wide
scale demands the use of a lot of water and
pesticides.
There are several ways in which
alcoholic beverages harm the
environment. Production of alcohol:

Smoking is dangerous as it can affect our lungs, Chain

Smoking causes air pollution by
emitting chemicals; this demonstrates
how smoking contributes to climate
change. It also provides a health

Cigarette butts are the most
common type of garbage that finds
its way into waterways, where it
harms aquatic creatures and plants
and pollutes the water.
 Livestock
Cigarette litter on the ground also affects
livestock. It functions in the same way that
a domino effect would. The trash leaches
toxins into the soil, poisoning the grass and
other plants that grows there.
 5 DRUG ABUSE
Drug abuse disorders are linked to a variety of short- and long-term health
consequences. They can differ based on the type of substance, how much and
how frequently it is used, and the individual's overall health. Overall, the
consequences of drug usage and addiction can be far-reaching. They have the
potential to affect practically every organ in the human body.
 Chemicals
They are capable of polluting directly from
pharmaceutical plants, as well as from
humans and animals. As these chemicals
enter terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, they
can have an impact on the health and
behavior of wildlife, including insects, fish,
birds, and other creatures.
Waterways
Internally administered medications are not
entirely digested in the body, and the residue
ends up in our wastewater when it exits our
houses and enters sewage-treatment plants.
These medications were discovered kilometers
downstream from wastewater treatment plants in
waterways.
Personal Pollution also include all types of
pharmaceuticals and personal care products
that creates a trace of pollutants found in
both surface water and ground waters.
