6 GETTING ABOUT

Comparison
• If two things are the same, we use a comparison with as + adjective + as.
The negative form is not + as + adjective + as.
• To compare two things, we use comparative adjectives + than.
Short adjectives: We usually add -er.
Long adjectives: We add more before the adjective.
Some irregular adjectives: good – better; bad – worse; far – farther; …
• If two things are similar, we use the same + as.
• If two things are not similar, we use different + from.
• We can also use like to compare.
My favourite journey is just like yours.

Possessive pronouns
• We use a noun after a possessive adjective.
It’s my book.
• We don’t use a noun after a possessive pronoun.
