(min.) Process Components
2 mins *Anticipatory Set
Check in with how students are at the beginning of class.
Review the plan for the day:
● Notes
● Homework
● Nearpod - Quiz tomorrow
*State the Objectives (grade-level terms)
Students will:
● evaluate composite trigonometric functions
45 *Instructional Input, Modeling, or Procedures
mins Composite Functions:
2
Review how to find inverses algebracally: f(x) = 𝑥, f–1(x) = 𝑥
Define what composite means: Function made of other functions where the output of one is the
input of the other
2
Provide an example with two algebraic functions: f(x) = 𝑥 , g(x) = 2x + 3
2 2
Take the composite them: f(g(x)) = (2𝑥 + 3) ; g(f(x)) = 2𝑥 + 3
Do it with inverses now. Use functions from before.
Take the composite of the function and it’s inverse: f(f--1(x)) = x; f-1(f(x)) = x
NOTE: The inverse of a function undones that functions
Talk about how that might be true when we cover trigonometric inverses and composition
Make a list of the different ways to write trigonometric inverses
