Our image depends in part, on how our employees present themselves to our
customers. McDonald’s stresses the importance of maintain the highest
standards possible in all phases of our operation, including standards regarding
cleanliness and neatness of all McDonald’s employees.
Personal Hygiene
Keeping good personal hygiene is one of the ways to help make sure that our food is safe.
These are some of the things employees need to do:
Keep clean by bathing or showering and brushing your teeth every day. Stay neat by wearing
a clean uniform and keeping fingernails short and clean. If you have an infectious or
contagious illness that may prevent you from serving food or handling food equipment in a
sanitary manner, contact your restaurant manager.

Washing hands properly is probably the most important thing an employee can do to help
ensure that our customers receive safe food. Employees must wash their hands…
Uniform
Employees will come to work in proper dress attire. Clean, wrinkle free shirt provided for
you, black pants (not jeans, stretchy, or scrubs), black belt, hat, black non-skid shoes, and
name tag. A white tee shirt can be worn under your uniform shirt as long as the sleeves do
not hang out from under uniform shirt. Pants cannot be sagging and must be worn around
your waist with black belt.

Nails
Ensure nails are short, clean, neat, and well-manicured. Artificial nails are not allowed and no
nail polishes.
Hair
Hair must be kept pulled back at all times or pinned up. You cannot have your long hair
flopping all over your back, neck, etc. Absolutely no fascial hair but a mustache. If you come
to work with a beard, goatees, etc., you will be asked to shave or go home. If this happens
more than once you will face possible termination. This is your warning that you must be
clean shaven to work in this restaurant.
Jewelry
Females no bracelets, hoop earrings, and excessive amounts of rings can be worn at work.
You can wear a stud earing and one ring per hand.
Males no earrings, bracelets, or excessive amounts of rings, one ring per hand.
Absolutely no other piercings can be worn at work. No tongue, eye, lip, etc.
