Willie Zeller
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the
passing of Wilmer Francis Zeller, “Big Willie,” on April
23rd, 2023, at age 76. Willie was a beloved son, brother,
husband, father, and grandfather who lived a full and
remarkable life.
Willie was born in Wolf Point, Montana, on March
31, 1947. He grew up in Wolf Point and graduated in
1965. He then went to college in Bozeman and Billings,
where he attended school and enjoyed the nightlife. He
then moved in with his sister in Virginia, Minnesota,
to continue his education. He was drafted in 1968 and
spent his military time in Germany during the Vietnam
War. He was discharged in 1970.
Willie and Rita were married in August of 1971.
Rita’s dad helped him get a job with the school district,
where he worked as a school janitor from 1971 through
2007, a job he held with pride and dedication. Willie also
cleaned Joe’s Bar after closing, and during tax season, he
worked for an accountant for several years. At times he
had a full-time job and two part-time ones. He believed
in the value of hard work and instilled that same work
ethic in his children and grandchildren.
In 1981 he began a new chapter as a political figure
and was elected to a slot on the Glasgow City Council,
then ran for a two-year term as Mayor in 1983. In 2001
Willie was elected to his fifth term as Glasgow’s Mayor,
making him Montana’s longest-serving Mayor. Willie
served his community with distinction for 28 and a
half years, making countless contributions to the city’s
growth and prosperity.
Willie was also a member of the St. Raphael’s
Parish, Knights of Columbus, Elks Club, Eagle Scout,
and Boy Scout Leader, Leagues of Cities & Towns. Willie
held many positions at the Glasgow VFW and was
instrumental in moving the post from Mahon Street to
Highway 2.
Willie and Rita
(Stein) were married for
over 50 years and were
loving parents to two
children, Willie Junior
and Alicia. He was also
a doting grandfather
who enjoyed spending
time with his grandson
Hunter, picking him up
in the Chevette with a
cigar in hand and taking him to McDonald’s, attending
his sporting events, and playing cribbage with him at
the VFW every Wednesday, where Hunter learned a lot
more from the vets than cribbage.
Willie’s commitment to his community and family
was unwavering, and he will be deeply missed by all
who knew him. His legacy of service and dedication to
others will continue to inspire those who knew him. Big
Wille will be forever remembered for his time as mayor,
his cigars, and the baby blue Chevette.
Willie Senior is preceded in death by his wife Rita and
baby Mary, parents Ethel (Hartse) and Wilmer A. Zeller,
sister Sharon, and brother-law Leon. He is survived by
his son Willie Junior and Heather Zeller of Glasgow
and grandson Hunter of Denver; daughter Alicia and
furbabies Lulu and Otis of Glasgow; sister Nora and
Jerry Monson; Nephew Michael and Dawn Erickson,
children Miles and Laura, Nephew Bruce and Kim
Erickson.
A rosary will be held at St. Raphael’s Catholic
Church on Thursday, April 27th, at 6:30 pm. Join us for
light snacks and memories at the VFW after the rosary.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family requests that in place of flowers,
donations be made to the Glasgow Beautification Fund,
a cause that was near and dear to Willie’s heart.

Former Malta star
continues to battle

We all loved to watch
her play back in the day.
She battled opponents on
the basketball court while
playing for Malta and went
on to play for a women’s
college powerhouse team,
the Montana Lady Griz.
Now she’s in a much
serious battle for her life.
Skyla Sisco wore the
blue and white uniform for
four years while playing
for the Malta M-ettes and the maroon and gold while
playing for the Montana Lady Griz.
Sisco helped lead Malta to its first of 10 State Class
B basketball championships in 1991. Then she helped
coach Robin Selvig and the Lady Griz to four straight
NCAA Tournament Appearances.
The former H-Line star is in a second battle of
breast cancer. Sisco was originally diagnosed with
breast cancer in 2019 and won that battle. But a late-
stage form of inflammatory breast cancer returned two
years later and spread to her lymph nodes. Now she is
back in treatment, but she had to relocate to Arizona
for specialized treatment in additional chemotherapy,
radiation and other cancer-fighting measures. None of
this is covered by insurance.
Malta and Glasgow teamed up at their rivalry game
held in Malta to help raise money to help Sisco pay for
her treatments. While the teams were hitting buckets
with the ball, the fans were filling donation buckets with
greenbacks, plus all popcorn sales were donated and the
50-50 raffle winnings of $5,776.50 was given back.
Sisco was Big Sky Conference MVP in 1998, helping
the Lady Griz to four straight league titles. Sisco had 28
points against Eastern Washington during the 1997-98
season. She made 13 of 17 free throws and was 8 for 8
against Northern Arizona. Had 12 assists twice, six steals
in a game. She scored 350 points her senior year, 302
points during the 1996-97 season, 278 in the 1995-96
campaign and 308 her freshman year (1994-95).
Montana beat San Diego State 57-46 in a first round
game 1994-95 with Sisco scoring eight points. The Lady
Griz then lost to Purdue 62-51, Sisco had nine points.
In 1995-96 Montana lost to North Carolina State 77-65.
Sisco did not play in that game. Sisco had four points in
a 47-45 loss to Texas Tech in 1996-97 and 14 in an 85-64
loss to Florida in 1997-98.
The Lady Griz were 26-7, 24-5, 25-4 and 24-6 while
Sisco played. She was also a teammate of former Malta
stars Greta Koss and Linda Cummings, who is now
Linda Hudyma.
In the 1991 State tournament ASisco and Koss
were named All-State players. Malta edged Fairfield 54-
52 for the title. The -ettes opened with a 69-51 win over
Lodge Grass and beat Cut Bank 44-32. Malta lost to
Troy 63-39 the following year with Sisco named to the
All-Tournament team. Malta beat Roundup 59-27 and
Shepherd.

What surprises many people, is that the transfer of
non-titled personal property can create more challenges
among family members than the transfer of titled property.
It is often the emotional value attached to personal
belongings that makes talking about transfers challenging.
Transferring non-titled property takes time and
energy. Many times families are faced with distributing
non-titled property at high stress times, such as when a
parent has experienced a health crisis, or after a funeral.
Families use a variety of methods to distribute or transfer
non-titled property. No method is “right” or “perfect” for
all families.
This workshop will help family members improve
communication in order to deal more effectively with
the problems and issues related to transferring non-titled

Seven Arrested During Transurrection at the Montana Capitol

At least seven protestors were arrested after a
mob of radical Left-wing activists were pounding on
the doors of the House Chamber of the Montana State
Capitol and disrupting the Democratic process. The
staged event is similar to “transurrections” of unruly
transgender activists that have targeted lawmakers in
other statehouses across the country.
As KTVH-TV reports, seven were arrested
following Tuesday’s antics in Helena.
Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton told
MTN seven people were arrested for criminal trespass
after refusing to leave the gallery.
KTVH added that the Montana Highway Patrol,
the Helena Police Department and the Lewis and Clark
County Sheriff ’s Office Civil Disobedience Team all
responded to the capitol.
The mob was demanding that the Montana House of
Representatives “let her speak,” referring to transgender
lawmaker Rep. Zooey Zephyr (D-Missoula), a man
who identifies as a woman. The Speaker of the House
was not recognizing the lawmaker to speak until Rep.
Zephyr apologized to the chamber for hateful remarks
made last week on the floor.
Legislative Democrats, and Rep. Zephyr, were
claiming that the Republican majority was taking away
Rep. Zephyr’s ability to represent his constituents.
Rep. Kerri Seekins-Crowe (R-Billings) made a great
point. If Rep. Zephyr wants to represent his constituents,
then why did Rep. Zephyr leave the House chamber and
fail to vote?

the floor of the MT House of Representatives because
you state that your “voice” that represents 10,000 people
is not heard. HOWEVER, you REFUSE to follow the
established decorum that is demanded of the ENTIRE

Republicans condemn violence and will always stand for
civil debate and respect for our processes of government.
Today’s riot by far-left agitators damages our discourse
and endangered legislators and staff. Their actions did
not represent Montana values. We want to thank our law
enforcement for maintaining order and protecting the
safety of everyone at the Capitol. House Leadership will
still stand firm in our commitment to decorum, safety,
and order. We will uphold the people’s will that sent 68
Republicans to Helena.

Words cannot express the gratefulness that we are feeling after the
support this community has shown to us, and to our marvelous matriarch.
To witness an entire town, all of our closest friends and family, merrily come
forth without a moment’s pause to offer our family their precious time,
generous donations, sincere well-wishes, heartfelt prayers, and happy
memories of Cindy has kept our spirits high and mom’s resolve strong.
She has been surprised and happily overwhelmed with all the letters and
donations she’s received personally in Seattle, and all the news she hears
of people working hard for her at home. The relief the auction proceeds
and benefit donations has offered Cindy is immense—from the covering of
her medical stay expenses to the ability to afford recommended advanced
medical treatments that are not all covered by insurance.
Not everyone gets a chance to witness such tangible evidence of
the positive impacts of their life’s efforts to the community they live in as
Cindy is seeing right now. Her love for everything Scottie, her passion for
educating the future, and her love for helping those in need would seem
to have come full circle with the generosity she is now being shown. Such
positivity feeding back into itself is one of the most endearing qualities of
our close-knit clan and is felt by Cindy all the way in Seattle, and her family
across the country.
To all of those who donated to the auction, you have our lifelong
support. Here’s to all the volunteers who helped prepare and conduct the
auction, we offer our unending gratitude. Everyone who bid and bought
the donated items, we owe you our peace of mind. For all of you who
selflessly donated directly to the benefit fund, we give you our heartfelt
thanks. To everyone who has written Cindy or sent her affectionate gifts,
we grant our humble friendship. And lastly to those who have helped us
out firsthand—be it by logistics, advice, rooming with mom in Seattle,
medical professionalism, or support of Cindy’s family… know that you
have our eternal endearment.
