1 Stand-by propulsion system and controls

1.1 Stand-by Ch. Eng. 1) Testing is carried out by simulation of low Weekly

telegraph works properly, make lamp test.

1.6 Emergency stop Ch. Eng. Push relevant button on the bridge. Engine has to be Monthly

2 Stand-by Ch. Eng. Test should be carried out by Monthly

5 Stand-by steering gear system

5.1 Emergency Ch. Off. Responsible crew member switches on steering pumps Weekly

5.2 Power failure Ch. Eng. Remove relevant fuse from switchboard, power failure Monthly

5.3 Low oil level Ch. Eng. Simulate low level of hydraulic oil in circulation tank by Monthly
alarm drainage. Alarm has to sound on the bridge and in the
engine room.

6 Fire pumps and fire lines

6.1 General fire Ch. Eng. 1) Start fire pump from ER and insure that self Weekly

priming and proper delivered pressure are provided.

2) Check possibility to start the pump from the bridge.

3) Renew seal if necessary.

6.2 Emergency fire Ch. Eng. 1) Start pump and make sure that self priming and Weekly
pump
proper delivered pressure are available.

2) Check possibility to start the pump from the bridge.

3) Insure that proper fuel oil level is provided.

4) Renew seal if necessary.

7 Stand-by communication system

7.1 GMDSS system Ch. Off. 1) Check that portable VHFs are fully charged. Weekly

gears stores for critical systems.

9 Fire detection Ch. Off. Fire simulation to be carried out by inserting smoke from Weekly
alarm system testing spray into each sensor one by one. Alarm has to
sound each time.

10 Emergency shut down system
