c. Checking of Attendance
D. Setting of Classroom Standards

1. Review and Motivation

Before we start our lesson for today, the
class will be divided into 3 groups. This
will be group 1, group 2, and group 3.

We will be having an activity; this (Students respond)

activity is called 4 pics 1 word. Is it
familiar with you students? Okay very
good. What you are going to do is to
guess what word is represented by the 4
pictures presented. The first group to
guess the word will gain 10 points and
the group with the most points will be
declared as the winner. Understood?
Very Good. Are you all ready?

Okay let’s start!

Picture number 1.

(Each group will try to guess the

answer)

Okay very good! The answer is

MIDDLE. Group _ got 10 points.

Picture number 2.

(Each group will try to guess the

answer)

Okay very good! The answer is FREQUENT.

Group _ got 10 points.

Picture number 3.
(Each group will try to guess the
answer)

Awesome! The correct answer is SUM. Since
Group _ got the answer first they got 10 points.

And the winner is Group _ for having the most

points in this activity. Here is your reward.
Let’s give ourselves 10 claps.

1. Presentation
Okay now please observe the three answers (Students respond)
from our previous activity.

2. Posing a Problem
What do you think is our topic for today
based on the previous activity?
Very good! Thank you. Any other idea?
Okay thank you.

3. Discussion
So now I want each group to bring out your
calculator for we will be needing it for
todays discussions.

Okay please read.

During the COVID-19 pandemic,
have you ever wondered the average
of confirmed cases in a week? The
table below shows the Daily new cases
in the Philippines as of July 8, 2020. It
also shows a 7-day morning average.
How do they solve the morning
average?

These questions can be answered by

defining the Measures of Central
Tendency of Ungrouped Data which will
be our topic for this day.

An ungrouped data is a set of values that

is not organized or classified as a group.
A measure of central tendency is a value
that represents the whole set of data.
These are MEAN, MEDIAN, and
MODE.

The mean of ungrouped data is obtained

by adding all the values divided by the
frequency of a set of data. It is also
called as the average. This is written as:

Example:

The number of confirmed COVID 19

cases from March 21-27, 2022 are as
follows: 77, 73, 82, 90, 84, 71, 96. To
get the mean we have;

Therefore, the mean or average number

of confirmed cases of COVID 19 from
March 21-27,2022 is 82.

Next is the Median. The Median of

ungrouped data is the middle value of a
set of data when all values are arranged
in either ascending od descending order.
If the frequency of the data is odd, then
the middle value is the median of the
given set of data. If it is even, the
median of the data is the mean of the
two middle values.

Example:

Arrange the data from the first example,

we have 71, 73, 77, 82, 84, 90, 96. Then,
find the middle value, we have;

Arrange the data.

The 4th score of the data is 82.

Therefore, 82 is the median.

How about this example? Let’s try this

one.

Find the median of the following set of

data.
33, 32, 35, 39, 40, 32, 30, 39

What should we do first?

Very good! So, we have,
30, 32, 32, 33, 35, 39, 39, 40

Now we can already find the median.

We have;
The 4.5th score of the data is the mean of
the 4th and 5th score. We have 33+35
divided by 2 which is equal to 34.

Therefore, 34 is the median.

The last measure of Central tendency is

the Mode.

The mode of the ungrouped data is the

value that most frequently appears in set
of data. When the value in a set of data
appears only once, then the data has no
mode. The data can be also classified
according to the number of modes it has.
If the data has one mode, then it is None sir.
unimodal, if it has two modes, then it is
called bimodal. Lastly, if the set of data
has more than one mode, the it is said to
be multimodal.

Example:

Find the mode of the given set of data:

8, 4, 7, 9, 5, 5, 5, 7

The mode is 5 because 5 appears most

frequently. Then the data is said to be
unimodal.

These are the measures of central

tendency of ungrouped data. Any
question? Are there any questions about (Students Solving the given example)
our topic?

Okay. To test if you really understood

our topic this morning/afternoon, I want
you to try to answer this example. (The student presented his answer)

The water consumption (in cubic meter)

for the past 6 months is shown below.

(Students claps)
Find the mean, median and mode.
I am giving 5 minutes to answer.

Okay time’s up. Who wants to show his

answer and present it to the class?
Okay Miss/Mister ______.

(Answers: Mean- 24.5 Median- 24.5

Median sir!
Mode- 24 and 25 bimodal) (Solutions
will be presented by the students in
front)
Mean Sir!
Very good! Let’s all give him/her 5
claps.
Mode Sir!

Activity
Now let’s test if everyone really
understood our topic. Sigma sir!

This activity is called I AM WHO I

AM.

Okay let’s start. Mean Sir!

1. I am at the middle when set of
values are arranged in either
ascending or descending order? Who
am I?
Okay Mister ______.
Very good!
2. I am also called an average. Who am
I?
Okay Miss _____.
Okay very good.
3. I am the one who appears the most
in a set of data. Who am I?
Okay Mister ______.
Very Good
4. I am the symbol used when adding By dividing the sum of all data by the
several numbers? Who am I? frequency of the set of data.
Okay Miss _____.
Very good! Thank you. By arranging the data either ascending or
5. I am the value from the sum of the descending and getting its middle term.
set of numbers divided by the
frequency of a set of data. Who am Find the two middle values and divide it
I? by two.
Okay Mister ________.
Okay Very good! The mode sir is the most frequently
appears in the set of data.
It seems you really understood our topic for this
morning/afternoon. So, let’s all give 10 claps Bimodal sir.
for ourselves. Multimodal sir.
Unimodal sir.
4. Generalization

Once again how can we find the Mean

of a given ungrouped set of data?

Okay.

How about the median?

What if the frequency of the data is

even? What should we do?

Okay very good.

How about the mode?

What do you call the set of data if it has
2 modes?
If it has 2 or more?
If it has only one mode?

Very good.

IV. EVALUATION
I think all of you already understood well our topic this morning/afternoon. This time I want you to
get a 1 whole sheet of paper and solve this one.

Direction: Complete the table below by finding the mean, median, and mode of each set of data.

V. Assignment

Direction: Gather your own any kind of data on your locality and find the mean, median and mode
of the data you collected.
