3. Motivation of the project (2 marks)

● Building something useful and challenging.

● Analyze the user experience of using the application.
● Testing some features which are not available in commercial applications (For eg.
File Sharing, Chat access at the waiting room, Face-Expression Detection).

5. Earlier research Work, Novelty, and Challenges (1 mark + 1 mark + 1 mark)

a) Is there any earlier work, which already addresses this problem that you are
trying to solve?

● Yes, there are many other commercially available apps present in the
market, but they lack some of the features that we’ll develop.

b) Is anything new you are addressing to solve the problem?

● Yes, we are planning to test user experience & some new features in our
video calling application, which is currently not present in commercial video
calling applications.
● Are those new features useful to users?

c) What are the major challenges that you foresee?

● Application may not perform as expected.

● Users may not able to use the app properly.
● Measuring too many things in the survey.
● Freely written responses can be difficult to quantify through analysis.
6. Method (2 marks + 2 marks)

a) Mention briefly how you are going to achieve the objective(s).

● We will be developing a video calling application with the addition of new features
which are not yet available in commercial video calling applications, then by
collecting data the use of surveys and with the help of user testing, we will be
analyzing the new feature usage and user experience.

b) Mention which of the major HCI concepts (survey, design, user study, empirical
evaluation, qualitative analysis) you are going to use in the project

● We’ll be designing our video calling web app.

● We’ll be in-person user testing and surveying the different features and users’
experience of the video calling app being used by users.
● Based on the responses we’ll be analyzing and evaluating our application.

7. Deliverable of the project (2 marks)

Highlight what would be the expected output of the project (an application etc.). This
will be checked at the end of the project.

● A video calling website with a user-friendly interface.

● The website will also feature a chat room that can be used without being on
video calls.
● Analysis of survey results based on which some features of the website were
implemented.

The name of the file should be <group_id>_<member_name>_project-proposal.pdf.

Each group member will submit the same proposal. It is mandatory that each
member submits the proposal.
