Self-Critique and Learning Application Assignment

Self-Critique

Before this course I had struggled tremendously in art and specifically how to

incorporate it in my future classroom. I thought I was deemed a “bad artist” and was

incapable of giving my future students some art in their everyday learning.  Now after the

completion of this course I have learned some skills I hope to project onto my future

students. I have also learned that a “bad artist” doesn’t exist when there are so many

elements in art that can be explored. I hope to use my final EdTPA lesson plan with my

future students. I chose to create a monster with construction paper scraps. It was a lot of

fun and it prompted students' creativity. I will use the skills I learned to create a 3D

model using construction paper folded in different ways. Finally I hope to use the string

pull model as it prompted my creativity to see something out of a simple shape made

from string dipped in paint. I think the most beneficial part of this course to my future

classroom was boosting my confidence in art and building a foundation of art skills I can

relay onto future students. I believe this because before this course I did not like or value

art. This is because I felt as though I was a “bad” artist as stated above. But in learning

the many ways art is created and shown I have become more open minded about my

feelings towards art as a whole. The assignment that interested me the most in this course

was the dream classroom assignment. Learning how to place things and what essentials to
have in my future classroom was helpful to know. I overall enjoyed this course as a

whole and hope to incorporate many aspects in my future.
