Very Good! Thank you class, I am glad that you’ve learned from our
last topic.
III. Establishing a Purpose for the lesson (ENGAGE/EXPLAIN)

a. Recognize the
contributor in the
discovery of the
elements.
b. Creates a timeline
showing the
development of the
table of elements
c. Appreciate the
importance of the
development of periodic
table.
Okay Class, are you familiar with the periodic table of element?
Yes Ma’am
Now, do you know that these people are related to the
development of the periodic table of elements? Yes, Ma’am/ No, Ma’am
Do you have any idea on what is our topic for today? Ma’am I think, our topic
for today is all about the
contributors of the
development of the
periodic table of
elements.
Class, are you excited to our new lesson for today? Yes, Ma’am
JOHANN DOBEREINER-
1817
JOHN NEWLANDS-
1863
An English chemist
proposed the low of
Octaves.
Explanation:
British chemist John Newlands was the first to arrange the elements
into a periodic table with increasing order of atomic masses. He found
that every eight elements had similar properties and called this the law
of octaves. He arranged the elements in eight groups but left no gaps
for undiscovered elements.
Explanation:
(One student will read
The periodic law was developed independently by Dmitri Mendeleev the powerpoint )
and Lothar Meyer in 1869. Mendeleev created the first periodic table
and was shortly followed by Meyer. They both arranged the elements DMITRI
by their mass and proposed that certain properties periodically reoccur. MENDELEEV AND
LOTHAR MEYER
an English physicist
observed that the order
of the X-ray
frequencies emitted by
elements follows the
ordering by atomic
number
Directions: Make a
timeline about the
contributors in the
development of the
periodic table.
Group Activity: BRING BACK TIME!
ACTIVITY: FILL ME
ANSWERS.
Directions: Using the table, give the names of the contributors of 1817- JOHANN
the development of the periodic table about and put it in the space DOBEREINER
provided.

Why?
Ma’am, because it
helps to easily
Let the students share their answers/thought. understand the
