RATIONALE:
Gulayan sa Paaralan Program is a school-community based project through the
initiative of the Provincial Governor David Jay-jay Suarez. A tie-up program between the
Provincial Government of Quezon, Department of Agriculture and Department of
Education Division of Quezon seeks to establish a school garden which serves as food
basket or main source of vegetable to sustain supplementary feeding for hunger and
malnutrition alleviation in the schools which will help to attain zero dropout rates.
Bio -intensive Gardening and Organic Farming is encourage by the Department
of Agriculture for sustainable, healthy, hearty and safe food production.
The program demand thorough monitoring and supervision thus program
facilitators from each schools requires :

OBJECTIVES:
1. To meet and create a harmonious communication with GSPa coordinators and
participants all through the implementation of the project.
2. Orient GSPa Coordinators on Cultural Management of Vegetable Production,
Planting Calendar and Criteria for Judging.
3. Extend support /possible answers to questions and queries on technical aspects of
Agriculture.
4. Introduce new technologies on farming techniques.
5. Promotion and IEC on importance of establishing an organically grown vegetable
garden.
6. Encourage facilitators through prize incentive giving to the Best Implementer of the
Gulayan sa Paaralan.
7. Proper documentation.
8. Promote ways to minimize waste and pollution and convert waste as bio fertilizer.
