What is FSY?

“…a balanced five-day program that includes

classes, devotionals, and activities carefully
designed for the youth to achieve specific spiritual
and behavioral changes. The suggested program
provides a balance of spiritual, social, physical,
intellectual, and service opportunities designed to
deepen conversion, develop appropriate
friendships, and draw closer to Christ.

(FSY Planning Guide, p.3)

The main objective of FSY is to deepen the participant’s
conversion to the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Lord loves
the youth and wants to strengthen them in these last
days. As the youth become more converted, they will
be prepared to:
 Enter the temple worthily and make temple
covenants.
 Participate in missionary service.
 Be worthy husbands, wives, fathers, and mothers.
 Build the kingdom of God throughout their lives.
It is for Young Men and Young Women ages 14 -18
Watched over
by an adult
couple.
The youth are supervised and led by Young Single Adults

(called Counselor Groups) are supervised by YSAs
(Counselors); group members come from different stakes /
districts so that new friendships can develop.

company for the benefit of company and inter-company
activities.
 Each participant receives a T-Shirt, a lanyard with name tag
and a handbook.
ROLES – SESSION DIRECTING COUPLE

the entire week with the youth and young adult

single adult counselors, it is important that an
exemplary husband and wife be chosen.
ROLES – COORDINATORS
Coordinators are young single adults who have
great leadership abilities. They are responsible for

intellectual and social development.

Question &
Answer
THE BALL IS IN YOUR HANDS
“God left the world unfinished for man to
work his skill upon. He left the electricity in
the cloud, the oil in the earth. He left the
rivers unbridged and the forests unfelled and
the cities unbuilt. God gives to man the
challenge of raw materials, not the ease of
finished things. He leaves the pictures
unpainted and the music unsung and the
problems unsolved, that man might know the
joys and glories of creation.”
Pres. Thomas S. Monson
In Quest of the Abundant Life. Ensign (1998)
