The Significance of Studying the Early Developments of Personality Psychology in

its Current Role in the Field.

Personality Psychology plays the role of providing an environment where it is easier to

understand human developmental concepts which will explain the changes in behavior of

individuals through different points of view and also by looking at how all the various parts of

each person work together as a whole. Studying the early developments of personality

psychology paved the way for understanding why a certain person behaves the way they do and

allowed the others to know how to react or respond to these behaviors. Through researches and

practice many different approaches have been developed to reduce personal distress. For

example, a friend of yours is having a mental breakdown and you suggest that she goes to a

psychotherapist, now with out studying the early developments of personality psychology the

therapist would just be relying on personal experience or intuition but when they do study these

theories the therapist will have a clear idea of how they can help or diagnose the patient.

Studying the early developments of personality psychology also provided us with the

discovery of different techniques for therapy and medicine which helps treat the mind. Different

psychologists have offered several theories of personality that have helped us obtain a

deeper and fuller knowledge of what makes each person different from other people, having

knowledge about these theories will help us help others in the future.
