According to the research findings by a group of French doctors, eating raw fish and meat
might improve human life expectency. However, this was just the initial results of the study carried
out on 200 Japanese people.

7.4.2. Yesterday, the Ministry of Health stated it would provide free medical cards/vouchers for
under-6 children nationwide. The childcare project/the child healthcare program will be first piloted
in Hanoi, then HCMC and other cities and provinces throughout the country.

7.4.3. Also regarding the childcare issue, the Ministry of Health of VN plans to spend 614.5 billion
VND (equivalent to 39 million USD) on the basic healthcare programs for all. The aim is to
raise/increase the average height of future generations by 3-4 cm by 2010.

7.4.4. Gingsen has long been considered an effective tonic. However, the research findings by
scientists from Hong Kong University showed that the use of gingseng during pregnancy might cause
birth/inborn deformities/defects. The study was tested on mice and the results showed that many
organs on the mouse foetus such as heart, lung, eyes and limbs developed abnormally.

7.4.5. On last Wednesday, the National Nutrition Institute of VN announced the survey results which
showed that over 34% or about 1/3 of children under 5 in VN suffer from iron deficiency in the body.
The percentage of under-5 children in poor areas in VN/poverty-stricken areas lacking iron and
blood in the body is up to 70%. This situation can be improved with a balanced/proper diet.

7.4.6. Smoking is the deadliest cause of death/the leading cause of mortality

According to a recent study by WHO, in 2005 alone, more than 500,000 people around the world
died of smoking, half of them were/are from developing countries. The firgure is still on an
increasing trend. The death rate due to smoking/the smoking-related death rate in developing
countries has increased more and more. It is expected/estimated that by 2030, 10 million people all
over the world will die each year due to smoking, 70% of them are from the developing world.

7.4.7. On 26th of August, a severe storm/hurricane landed/attacked/hit/wept away some provinces

in the North of our country/VN . This was the worst storm ever in the past 10 years. The storm
unroofed hundreds of houses/blew away roofs of hundreds of houses and collapsed tens of schools.
The intense rain caused landslides in riverside villages. The total damage was estimated to reach
hundreds of millions VND.
