Working With The Presets

As it is a new application, the ToneX app still needs re ning particularly on how presets are
managed. It’s not within my scope to support the application - it’s for IK Multimedia.

This document is intended to summarise how to add the models I created into your ToneX library.
So while I won’t be supporting issues relating to the program, AmpliTube or sound cards, this
hopefully will get people up and running quickly.

At the time of writing, the only way to share pro les to iOS devices is to upload them publicly to
Tone.net. Not all models from the project will be uploaded to tone.Net but some will in time.

Prerequisites
ToneX on a PC or Mac is the essential application here. It is recommended that you purchase a
license. The lowest paid tier is su cient. The free edition lets you load 20 amp pro les which
may become limiting whereas the cheapest edition as no such limitations.

The presets I’m authoring for AmpliTube 5 rely on models that are in the Max edition. At the time
of writing, this is discounted and it is recommended that you own this edition.

Loading a ToneX Preset

To make amp and pedal pro les available in ToneX and AmpliTube, you need to import the model
into ToneX. It is recommended that you restart AmpliTube to see the imported model there. It is
also recommended that you click the star icon beside the imported model so that you can nd it
quickly in future.

Please pay close attention to these instructions as it is a little di cult.

Firstly open ToneX and click the presets tab

 Next, right click on any preset, this brings up a menu. Select “Import Preset” and navigate to the
preset le.

The amp will now be available to you.

 About Speaker Modelling and In Line Treble Boosters

Some pro les include modelled speakers and some were modelled with a treble booster in the
chain.

If there’s a speaker or treble booster present in a pro le you can see it named in the “Stomp
Based On” and “Cab Based on Columns”. Often, microphones and treble boosters used will also
be called out in the model name.

You can also rely on the AI technology to turn o a modelled speaker. It’s not quite the same as
pro ling the amp without a speaker but it can yield some excellent results.

In the image below, you can see the makeup of the model. Clicking the square beside the
speaker will deactivate it.

Running pro les with built in speakers turned on in combination with AmpliTube’s own speakers
will create a dark wooly sound so worth watching out for this.
