Heaven’s Delight

Like a game of hide and seek, I felt Jesus come for me

It wasn't the first time I and the saviour played this game for my soul.
But every time, I let the world echo unready, unloved, and not whole.

My fear of becoming a disappointment kept me in hiding.

The sham that was my life seemed impossible to get a pass
But something changed on the night it all became the past
In a prayer circle where you held me with the hand of a friend.

I held back tears at the sound of her prophecy

She uttered thoughts I had hidden in the farthest parts beyond memory.
And as she spoke, I knew this was God.
I felt you come into my heart for the divine exchange of lies for truth and death for life.

You saw my sins as they were and did not go, but instead told me to let go
It was time you took your rightful place in me
A spot your spirit had been yearning to occupy
Ready to convict for the host of heaven’s delight.
That night I wasn't just called, you called me out.

Once again on rocky grounds, I expected my life to transform in an instant

Ridiculing myself when I fell short and tried to keep my distance.
But unlike a wearied lover you stayed
reminding me in the stillness of your voice
Never stop learning, because in truth,
I was no longer damned but saved.
