1. What does stand for?

Photoshop Document

2. What is the default filename extension of Photoshop?

This is the default file type for Photoshop documents, although you won't necessarily use it for
every image. It will save your layers and all of the other information in your image so you can
easily re-edit it later.

3. What is the advantage of a bitmap image over a vector graphic and vice versa?

Bitmap formats are best for images that need to have a wide range of color gradations, such as
most photographs. Vector formats, on the other hand, are better for images that consist of a
few areas of solid color. Examples of images that are well suited for the vector format include
logos and type.

4. How can the Level tool help create more impact on photos?

Levels is a tool in Photoshop and other image editing programs which can move and stretch the
brightness levels of an image histogram. It has the power to adjust brightness, contrast, and
tonal range by specifying the location of complete black, complete white, and midtones in a
histogram.

5. How can you correct the color of your photos automatically?

If your photo has a color cast you want to correct, when you click on the Auto button you may
notice that Curves layer adjusts the contrast instead of white balance. To tweak this, hold the
Alt/Option key and click on the Auto button. This will bring up the Auto Color Correction
options.

6. What is Typography?

Typography is the art and technique of arranging type to make written language legible,
readable and appealing when displayed. The arrangement of type involves selecting typefaces,
point sizes, line lengths, line-spacing, and letter-spacing, as well as adjusting the space between
pairs of letters.

7. What is the difference between Serif and San Serif?

A Serif is a decorative stroke that extends off the end of a letterform. Typefaces that have serifs
are referred to as serif typefaces, while Sans-Serif typefaces do not have those decorative
strokes. Some popular examples of serif typefaces are Times New Roman, Garamond, and
Georgia.

8. What does a Histogram do?

A Histogram is used to summarize discrete or continuous data. In other words, it provides a

visual interpretation of numerical data by showing the number of data points that fall within a
specified range of values (called “bins”). It is similar to a vertical bar graph.
