The school principal, Mrs. Magdalena P. Layugan and Assistant School

Principal, Mr. Aaron Paul B. Cabe for letting us work at Bureau of Fire Protection

DEDICATION

I dedicate this work to God Almighty, who is my creator, my unwavering ally, and the

source of all my knowledge, insight, and wisdom. He has been my source of power

throughout this program, and I have only been able to soar on His wings. I also

dedicate this to my loving and supportive family who provided my financial needs. I

also gave my coworkers, with whom I spent a 10-day work immersion, a special

thanks in this product. The results of our work immersion would not have been

fantastic as they are now without our cooperation and commitment.

Additionally, we would like to express our gratitude to the wonderful employees who go

above and beyond to ensure the satisfaction of their clients and who have provided us

with access to vital information without which it would have been challenging for us to

carry out our duties successfully. While working, we have not encountered any impolite

or unwelcoming behavior, and we aim to return the favor by doing our very best to

finish this task.

I. INTRODUCTION
As a grade 12 student, I had the opportunity to participate in a wok immersion program

at the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). This experience was an eye-opening and valuable

opportunity for me to gain practical knowledge and skills in the field firefighting and

emergency response. During my time at the BFP, I was assigned various tasks and

responsibilities that challenged me to apply my academic learning and develop new skills. I

gained firsthand experience in responding to emergencies, performing firefighting operations,

conducting fire safety inspections, and collaborating with different stakeholders to ensure

public safety.

Through this work immersion program, I learned the importance of teamwork,

communication, and adaptability in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment. In this

narrative report, I will share my work immersion journey at the BFP, including the challenges I

faced, the lessons that I learned, and the impact it has had on my personal and professional

growth.

II. OBJECTIVES OF WORK IMMERSION

Work Immersion will help develop among the learners’ life and career skills, and will

prepare them to make decisions on postsecondary education or employment. Through

partnership building, DepEd hopes that the Partner Institutions will provide learners with work

immersion opportunities, workplace or hands-on experience, and additional learning

resources. It aims to make the learners:

1. Appreciate the importance and application of the principles and theories learned in

school;

2. Enhance their technical knowledge and skills;

3. Enrich their skills in communications and human relations; and

4. Develop good work habits, attitudes, appreciation and respect for work.

By the tie learners reach Senior High School, they would have already acquired almost all the

competencies and skills that would prepare them for the curriculum exits (higher education,

employment, middle-skills development, and entrepreneurship). Work immersion provides

them with an avenue to test themselves and apply what they have learned in a non-school

scenario. In work immersion, learners are not only able to apply their previous training but are

also able to experience the social interactions in a work environment. Their experiences

during work immersion will develop many skills and values that would help them as they

transition from high school to real life.

To assure the achievement of the above objectives of Work Immersion, this policy serves to

guide schools in:

1. Creating flexible work immersion arrangements for their learners;

2. Providing options for work immersion that are relevant to learners’ purposes and

needs;

3. Organizing work immersion opportunities for learners that are consistent with the

diverse human resource requirements of partner institutions for work immersion, and

4. Articulating the scope and limits of work immersion in the context of basic education

when building relationships with work immersion partners.

V. WORKING RELATIONSHIP
V.1 Working with the Office Head

I get along well with the office manager since he is welcoming and not overly

unpleasant. He treats us well, is polite to our interns, and offers wise advice.

Working with him teaches us that we can utilize to improve our lives in the future.

5.2Working with the Work Immersion Supervisor/s

Our supervisors are nice people; they provide us advice when we have trouble

doing the things they give us so we can gain knowledge from it. In order to extend

our viewpoints, they also provide knowledge about the natural world. They also

check in with us to see whether we are active or not.

5.3Working with Co-Immersants

Before we were assigned to BFP, I was acquainted with some of the colleagues,

but not with others. I thus hope that following our immersion, I will become

acquainted with and linked to them. Work is made easier since we get along well

and cooperate to achieve the duties given to us by our supervisors. However, there

are times when we are unable to understand something but are still able to

accomplish it through conversation. We also got to know our coworkers and

learned new things from our supervisors at BFP, as I had expected.

5.4Working with the Community/Clienteles

Working with the community involves interacting with its people and caring for their

empowerment and development by encouraging their active involvement in

Page | 15

problem-solving. Because of how big of an impact our work has on the community,

I feel a tremendous sense of connection to it.

We have no trouble interacting with them as long as we know how to humble

ourselves and be patient with them. People behave differently, thus having a

hysterical customer is inevitable. However, like I said, there won’t be any problems

as long as you can humble and comprehend them.

VII. Challenges Encountered
In my ten days of immersion, I gained a lot of knowledge. Lesson learned that will

be useful in our future lives, particularly in the workplace. In my first 10 days of

employment, I encountered issues, including:

 Time management

 Being shy to communicate

However, working together can overcome and resolve the issues we are currently

facing. It is mentioned here that we may encounter issues in the working world in

the future, therefore it also has a good impact on us and help us better prepare for

the future

VIII. Insights

The eighty hours of work immersion are a valuable and important experience for

senior high school students. It is a privilege for us to work at Bureau of Fire

Protection since it provides us with the information, inspiration, and background we

need to pursue our dream careers. This experience teaches us how to be

accountable, a better person, and a prosperous professional in the future.

We learned important lessons from working with real people that we definitely

wouldn’t have learned from merely studying. We learned from it and had firsthand

encounters with what the outer world had to offer. We get the chance to pick up

such priceless knowledge form expert, knowledge we can one day put to use for

ourselves.

We learned the value of the responsibility of being an employee or worker

throughout our two weeks at BFP.

I’d like to take this chance to express my gratitude to everyone who has helped us

learn and develop. You can have faith that the drive, time, and lessons you

invested in us will endure until we go on to the next stage of our lives.
