Jesus and the Kingdom of God

Jesus Teachings in Parables

Parable: A parable is a story told to illustrate a truth. Jesus’ parables were teaching aids
and can be thought of as extended analogies, comparing two things or ideas. It is a story
told to illustrates a truth and earthly story that has a heavenly meaning. The Lord Jesus
frequently used parables as a means of illustrating profound, divine truths.
Jesus use the parables to hear it to shock them and imagine what is reaching about the
story, letting people understanding the meaning.
Most of Jesus’ parables were directed at some aspect of the Kingdom,
starting with “the Kingdom of Heaven is like...” Just in Matthew we find
that the Kingdom of Heaven is like:

is your master, then God is not your master. It must be God your master not money.
- Second point is hoarding our wealth to others than ourselves. We are bless to our blessing

-The parable of the minas deals with two classes of people:

FOURFOLD MINISTRIES OF JESUS

PREACHING TEACHING HEALING AND FEEDING
DON’T EVEN READ IT ALL JUST FAMILIARIZE (ESPECIALLY THE TEACHING
PREACHING AND HEALING PART).
FEEDING
Feeding the multitude is a term used to refer to two separate miracles of Jesus reported in
the Gospels.
1. The first miracle, the "Feeding of the 5,000", is told by all four gospels
(Matthew 14-Matthew
14:13-21; Mark 6-Mark 6:31-44; Luke 9-Luke 9:12-17; John 6-John 6:1-14).
It is the only miracle recorded in all four gospels.
1. The second miracle, the "Feeding of the 4,000", with seven loaves of bread
and fish, is
reported by Matthew 15 (Matthew 15:32-39) and Mark 8 (Mark 8:1-9), but not by Luke or
John.
TEACHING
The place of Jesus as the founder of one of the major religions of the world is, of course, unique
and unquestioned. His teachings, and those of his followers, have profoundly influenced the
moral and social and religious thought of men throughout two thousand years
Jesus will still be the one teacher who in a wonderful way has come from God, and continues to
bring God to us through himself.

2.
The art of story-telling is one of the most ancient and universal means of communication
devised by man.
-THE STORIES ARE ALL CREDIBLE
- the stories ENCOURAGE THE EXERCISE OF THE IMAGINATION.
-the stories contain an ELEMENT OF SURPRISE.
Jesus always told his stories FOR A PARTICULAR REASON
3.
EVERYDAY LIFE.
SPECIFIC APPROPRIATENESS.
NOTION OF ACTIVITY.
REVEAL THE HUMOUR OF JESUS.
A LEAP OF FAITH.

4. The Use of Questions

RHETORICAL QUESTIONS
ASKING QUESTIONS IN REPLY TO QUESTIONS.
Jesus used the art of asking questions in order to present CHALLENGES to those to whom
he
spoke.

5. TO ESTABLISH THE RIGHT MOTIVES.

SYMBOLIC QUALITY of his instruction.

a) Signs and miracles 5:17-26 “Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to
say, ‘Rise and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to
forgive sins” – he said to the man who was paralysed – “I say to you, rise, pick up your bed
and go home.” And immediately he
rose up before them and picked up what he had been lying on and went home, glorifying
God.
b) Meeting people 7:36-50 A certain moneylender had two debtors. One owed five hundred
denarii, and the other fifty. When they could not pay, he cancelled the debt of both. Now
which of them will love him more?”…
c) Response to comments by other people 5:29-35 “Those who are well have no need of a
physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to
repentance.”… “Can you make wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them?
The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast
in those days.”
d) Disciples’ experiences 9:28-31 And as he was praying, the appearance of his face was
altered, and his clothing became dazzling white. And behold, two men were talking with
him, Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure, which he was
about to accomplish at Jerusalem.
PREACHING
1. JESUS TOLD STORIES
Jesus told countless parables (Mark 4:34). He pulled spiritual truth from everyday life. Not only
did these stories make Jesus’ preaching more memorable, they also connected in much more
profound way.
Think about the parable of the Prodigal Son. Jesus could have proclaimed, “God loves you so
much that He will welcome you back to Him no matter how far you have wandered away.” That
is definitely true.
2. JESUS SHOCKED PEOPLE
Jesus often used hyperbole. He taught using outrageous examples, exaggerations, or shocking
statements that got people’s attention. These statements were not all meant to be taken literally,
but they definitely got the point across.
3. JESUS CRAFTED MEMORABLE SAYINGS
Jesus spoke poetically. He often used catchy sayings and plays on words. This isn’t always
apparent in English translations. However, in the original language, Jesus made it much easier
for his listeners to remember what he said.
4. JESUS ASKED QUESTIONS
Rather than tell everyone the answer right away, Jesus used the Socratic Method. He led His
audience to conclusions by asking a lot of questions. For examples check out Matthew 16:26,
or 22:20-21, or look at this resource. Questions are a powerful teaching method, especially when
teaching a hostile crowd (like unbelievers). Questions stimulate critical thinking. Asking good
questions makes the audience hungry to find the answers.
5. JESUS USED OBJECT LESSONS
Jesus often used object lessons to communicate to his audience. He washed the feet of the
disciples to teach servant leadership (John 13:3–17). He called a little child to him to discuss
childlike faith (Matthew 18:1–4). He described unselfish giving after watching a widow drop two
small coins into the temple offering (Mark 12:41–44).
6. JESUS USED REPETITION
Jesus helped his audience learn His lessons by frequently repeating Himself. He taught the same
major themes again and again. For example, Jesus spoke of his death and resurrection over and
over again (Mark 8:31; 9:31; 10:33–34), and the disciples still didn’t get it. Sometimes people
need to hear something many times over before it fully sinks in. In addition, teachings that get
repeated get remembered. If you want to preach like Jesus, repeat.
HEALING
LAYING ON OF HANDS
(1) Matt 8:2,3; Mark 1:40,41; Luke 5:12,13 Leper healed  “if Thou wilt “, along with
SPEAKING
THE WORD OVER him  “be thou clean “.

from the
dead; He commanded her to arise (and HEALING BY FAITH OF THE RECEIVER) (see
COMMANDING THE PERSON TO ACT)

HEALING BY THE FAITH OF THE RECEIVER

(1) Matt 8:5-13; Luke 7:1-10 Centurion’s Servant healed; Jesus Marveled at his faith; He had
faith to believe that Jesus only needed to SPEAK THE WORD OVER the servant.
(2) Matt 9:18,19, 23-26; Mark 5:22-24,35-43; Luke 8:41,42,49-55 (and LAYING ON OF
HANDS) (and COMMANDING THE PERSON TO ACT)

His garment; Jesus said her faith made her whole, to go in peace, and to be healed of her plague.
(4) Matt 9:27-30 (and LAYING ON OF HANDS)
HEALING BY FAITH OF ANOTHER
(1) Matt 9:2-7; Mark 2:3-12; Luke 5:18-25 Friends let the man down through the roof because of

REBUKING THE SICKNESS

(1) Luke 4:38,39 (Matt 8:14,15; Mark 1:30,31) (and LAYING ON OF HANDS)
CASTING OUT OF DEVILS
(1) Matt 8:16,17  ; Mark 1:32-34  ; Luke 4:40,41 (and LAYING ON OF HANDS) Healing
the sick
at evening; He laid hands on all of them. A comparison of the texts shows Matt &
Luke agree that  “all
” were healed. Mark says  “many ” were healed. The only conclusion to draw is that the
casting out of
devils caused  “healings ” for some but  Mark emphasizes the casting out of devils rather
than the fact they were healed  . While others were healed and did not require the casting
out of devils- for these Mark says  “And He healed many that were sick of divers diseases ”
” then says  “and cast out many devils “. In other words, all were healed.
(2) Matt 9:32,33 When the dumb man had the devil cast out, he could speak.
(3) Matt 12:22; Luke 11:14 Man healed of blindness and dumbness when devil cast out.

(3) Matt 9:18,19, 23-26; Mark 5:22-24,35-43; Luke 8:41,42,49-55 (and LAYING ON OF
HANDS) (and HEALING BY FAITH OF THE RECEIVER)
(4) Mark 10:46-52; Luke 18:35 43 (and HEALING BY FAITH OF THE RECEIVER) (and
SPEAKING THE WORD OVER THE PERSON)
(5) Mark 8:22-25 (and LAYING ON OF HANDS)
