Scientific Research - TASK (Due 24.03.2022) 2
00pm 24/03/2022)
Explain in details the problem of interest for your research. Include reasons why the research is
relevant to be carried out and the hypothesis to be tested. Write in not less than 50 words.
Many medicine for the children should be consumed orally. However, children do not
have a liking for the taste of the medicine and tend to spit out their medicine out of the unpleasant
taste. This shows that many children fail to take the medication because of the taste thus will
delay their recovery. Therefore, an innovation is needed to encourage children to be disciplined
with medicine intake.
Children aged between 3 to 10 will be capable to consume medicine with the utilization of
‘miracle fruit’ without spitting it out.
Research objectives:
• To expose the benefits of ‘miracle fruit’ in society.
• To improve the manufacture of medicine, especially for children.
• To encourage children consume their medications without throwing tantrums.
• To assist parents that struggle to supervise their sick children.
• To increase the percentage of children that can consume their medications without any
problems.
TASK (due 5.00pm 24/03/2022)
Literature Review
1. Adding sugar preservative in medicine would lessen the effectiveness of the medicine
leading the children’s exposure to other health diseases such as diabetes and dental caries.
2. The lack of “child-friendly” formulations leaves an estimated 40% of the world’s children
at increased risk for avoidable adverse events, such as suboptimal dosing, lack of
adherence to medication regimens, and reduced access to new medicines.
3. Children usually are not capable to swallow solid oral dosage forms such as pills and
tablets. Thus, the medications would need to be crushed and dissolved in water ; leading
the taste to be very unpleasant.
4. Adding acids to medications to lower down the pH has the potential to cause dental
erosion (at pH < 5.5).
5. Adding artificial flavour would lead to develop the risk to diseases such as upset stomach
and will decrease the effectiveness of the medicine.
Research Methodologies
Explain in words on how you will conduct your research (methodologies, sampling and population,
list of instruments/apparatus/materials, duration of research).
The research will be conducted for a year. After plucking and stockpiling the ‘miracle fruit’, they
will be washed and sterilized. Using a fruit blender, the fruits will be ground and be centrifuged
and filtered to remove the debris. It then will be utilized in medicine by the medicine manufacturer.
Suggest your method for data analysis and challenges that you may face during the process.
The data would be analysed by doing surveys to parents that oftenly visit the pediatric section in
hospitals. After doing some study on the ‘miracle fruit’ on the Internet, I’ve found that the
freshness of the berries will not last long if it is utilized in food and medicine. Along with that, it
is also stated that the berries plant would need a long time to grow.
TASK (due 5.00pm 24/03/2022)
Explain the expected result of your research. Their importance and/or contribution to society.
It will be a massive success and will shock the nation. All this while, parents only need some
phenomenal African berries to encourage their children to take medications. Well personally, I’ve
tried eating the berries and it really alter the taste to become sweet. The ‘miracle fruit’ will be
everyone’s saviour especially the parents. Conceivably, the ‘miracle fruit’ will be explored more
and utilized more in all industries such as food industry and medicine industry.
