Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Carpentry

First year college- Home economics

I. Objectives:
At the end of the sixty-minute period the students should be able to:
a. describe occupational health and safety practices in carpentry;
b. tell the importance of practicing the 5s in the workplace; and
c. create a poster that promotes the 5s practices.

III. Procedures:
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Routine Activities
a. Prayer
The teacher will ask one student to lead the prayer.
b. Greetings

The teacher and students will greet each other.

c. Classroom Routine
The teacher will ask the students to pick up the pieces of garbage
under their chairs and throw them into the garbage bins.
d. Checking of attendance
The teacher will ask one student to list the absent on a ¼ sheet of
paper.
e. Classroom rules
The teacher will ask the students to recall the agreed classroom
rules.
1. Raise your hands if you want to answer.
2. Avoid talking when the class is going on.
3. Always ask permission if you want to go out.
4. Avoid cheating.
5. Respect your teacher and your classmate.
f. Review
The teacher will ask the student about their previous topic which is
the personal protective equipment used in the carpentry workplace.

g. Motivation
The teacher will conduct an activity called “word search puzzle”
The teacher will ask the students to find the words written below the
Word search puzzle and encircle the word that they found.

h. Presentation:
The teacher will ask the students to guess the topic for the day
based on their activity.
The teacher will reveal the subject matter which is the occupational
health and safety practices in carpentry.
The teacher will let the students read the objectives that they will
attain for this lesson.

Objectives:

At the end of the sixty-minute period the students should be able to:

b. tell the importance of practicing the 5s in the workplace; and
c. create a poster that promotes the 5s practices.

B. Lesson proper:

Before starting the activity the teacher will have a brief explanation about
the 5s.

The class will be divided into (2) groups by counting 1-2. The teacher
will give the students activity sheets for them to answer. The students will
be instructed to do the activity within 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes, the
students will be given 3 minutes to present their answers.

IV. Evaluation
The student will be instructed to answer the questions below for only 5 minutes and
write their answer in a ½ sheet of paper. The students are instructed also that item 1
and 2 will be graded according to the criteria below:

V. Assignment:

Create a Signage or a poster that promotes the orderliness and cleanliness of the TLE
laboratory (ED103). It should be printed, pasted into a cardboard or illustration board
and with a plastic cover.
